Dempsey would destroy Rahman and you know it. The Rahman who fought Wladimir would be in serious danger of being maimed. Dempsey wasn't a nice guy like Wladimir.
Jack Dempsey at 12 7lb - 13 stone would get man handled terribly easy by either klit. Its not even a fair fight.Size is to much of a factor here
I dont believe a man can bulk up 2 plus stones naturally like they do without a bit of help(in the time scale they do that is )
There are no special heavyweight athletes today. Every pound matters in this type of competetion pool. Less skill, better to have weight to compensate.
Agreed. Half the heavies now are a stone at least away from their physical peak weight which as you rightly say would be weighing in around ali, holmes, prime foremans weight 210 -220 . I think the fighters(today) would be weighing in a little less if it were 15 rounders too.
You have to wonder. I know that it never happened before the 1980s, without sombody looking verry fat!
Check the fist, thigh, chest, waist, bicep, calf and reach measurements of Liston, Ali, Holmes, Foreman and compare them to Bowe, Lewis and the Klitchkos. They actually are all very similar in size. There was a website that is no longer active that had the Tale of the Tape for all HW champs but is no longer active. But this is Liston and Vitali side by side LISTON KLITSCHKO 6'1 HEIGHT 6'7 215 WEIGHT 245 84 REACH 80 44 CHEST NML 46 1/2 46 CHEST EXP 48 17 1/2 BICEPS 17 1/2 36 WAIST 35 1/2 14 1/2 FOREARM 17 17 1/2 NECK 18 1/4 25 THIGH 23 1/4 16 CALF 17 8 1/2 WRIST 7 1/2 15 FIST 11 Liston measures up pretty well dont you think?
Fighters like Clazaghe, Jones, and Hopkins are very skilled and could have matched up well with fighters say 20 pounds heavier then there were. We have numerous examples in the past where the smaller guy won, or made the bigger one look very bad. Yet we don't see any modern pound for pound supper middles or light heavies ( who enter the ring over 180 in many cases ) calling out and fighting Lewis or Klitschko do we? Size as long as it does not take away from speed, stamina, or flexibility is a tremendous asset in boxing. There are weight classes for reasons.
they better "manhandle" Dempsey or Dempsey is going to be all over their bodies wlad can't fight inside. I think he gets taken apart by dempseys left hook. vitali has a terrible jab and would look to slug with Dempsey. while I think it would be a great fight Dempsey would wear vitali out and stop him late dempseys speed and power would be too much for either klit
They were on a website that listed all the champions tale of the tape. I started a thread about the comparative sizes of Liston, Ali, Holmes and Foreman compared to the Klitchkos, Lewis and Bowe. I cut and pasted those for Sonny and Vitali to another thread about a fantasy match between the two http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138415 http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=184286
Let's get one thing straight. The Klitschko's and especially Lewis are not in the "big to compensate for skill" category. These are great fighters your talking about, and in Lewis' case, legendary fighters. I'm talking about the general demographic of competition in the heavyweight division these days. Everybody is bulky, and has a belly. An enormous amount of heavyweight fighters I see today have bellies. It's startling. There are no great athletes in the heavyweight division right now. Just the Klitschko's. And I don't know if you meant to bring up Hopkins and Jones as examples of skilled heavyweights who are athletic, but those guys were not natural heavyweights. It's a whole different story.
