Calzaghe was very good but he retired too early when he was still in good nick and ill bet he regrets thats a bit now, even if he did want a comeback his drug use would have meant it probably would have ended in disaster, maybe he could have convinced himself he was still good though
Little pitty-patty slap flurries do NOT equal rapid fire combos. If you think they do, you know nothing about combination punching, or punching technique as a whole. Calzaghe is the most overrated fighter of his generation, a flawed fighter with glaring technical deficiencies who measured his every move via risk vs reward, fought bums for the majority of his career, and never ever fought one solitary prime HOF level opponent. :deal
THE most hilarious and legendary video ESB has EVER produced. Obliterates the myth that this guy was a serious puncher before suffering hand injuries. His technique was always awful, he simply overwhelmed the utter bums he fought with slap-blizzards. Horrible, horrible boxing. :happy:happy:happy
He's one of those fighters that's vastly overrated by his fans and to a lesser extent, underrated by his detractors. But they are more accurate in their opinions of him than his fans.
For ****s sake. I'm American and appreciate Calzaghe. I just don't go around gushing like a girl with a crush about it. Ye frigging drive people to hate him with your man love.
This! :deal I've always been a fan of his. Although I'm sure since I never kissed his ass, I'm seenmore as a hater. Joe C had opportunities to do more. He was fine sitting on the WBO belt, the belt with the WORST ranking, and collecting good paydays.
Pride form Wales Joe Calzaghe or Coward from Wales Joe Calzaghe I am rather willing to respect Jose as a champ but as in Michalczewski's record , fight vs RJJ in his prime should happen,I am rather sure that both, Joe and Dariusz would lost
I don't know how you can miss an arm punching joke that feasted on pastprime greats like Hopkins and jones and still managed to have difficulty
you told me you were a former boxer, I highly doubt this the more I see of your posts. Tony Booth has been in with David Haye and many other hard hitting heavyweights, and he said Calzaghe hit "****ing hard" after sparring him RJJ said he hit hard, Eubank said he hit hard, Kessler said his body punches were "extremely painful" but yeah, he has "horrible horrible boxing" according to the low class ex amateur
