Don't know why this thought just came to me while watching Mayweather vs Marquez. Floyd's fighting a guy that he holds every advantage over and whom he knows can't hurt him and he still wouldn't roll the dice even a little bit to close the show. I know his caution is what makes him as successfull as he is and I'm not knocking him for it but man I miss watching Tito. In recent memory he is the best finisher that I can think of. If you showed any sign of weakness when fighting him, it was all over for you. If you went down, or if your legs buckled just a little it was like he transformed into something else. His fights with joppy, thiam, campas, vargas, mayorga, etc. man they were fun to watch
I miss Naz finding those illegal wraps, Bernard going to Puerto Rico, and humiliating him in the ring. One of the best example of pre-fight mental warfare ever. Bernard did deliver Tito's championship belts to him in Puerto Rico, personally even, after the fight.
Tito was the best finisher since Ray Robinson, as Larry Merchant once noted. One of the greatest fighters of all time, in anyone's top 100.
The last time i saw the video Bernard run like a ***** because He was going to get murdered in Puerto Rico.
I was thinking the same thing earlier this month. such charisma. one of my top favorite fighters of all time. rewatched the vargas and joppy fight. i still think he can make some buzz but at 160. but with so much time off i hope he enjoys his retirement now.
