The idea that he gets a bit overrated and was in truth more "good" thatn "great" (and was by no means EVER a threat to Mayweather. Be real :nut) and the idea that he smashes close to the entire current 140lb division to smithereens are not mutually exclusive.

 

Keep in mind that the Zab Judah from the Tszyu fight wasn't the confused, overrated gatekeeper who fought Amir Khan. He was at his absolute peak physically and was full of confidence...probing for KO opportunities at every turn. Zab was never the same after that right hand. Great win for Tszyu.

Tszyu cuts through this 140 division like a hot knife through butter. I'd love to see him utterly smash whiny Khan.

 

If there's one thing you could say about Tszyu, is that he's probably one of the biggest hitters at that weight we've seen for a long time.

In his prime, he'd mix it with anyone in the division, win? maybe not, but certainly do himself justice.

He really is a great example of someone who could plant their feet to get the full power, but also quick to get off them when needed.

Also, IIRC wasn't Vince Philips Tyzu's first fight stepping up a weight? And he got a lucky (relatively) win? Not taking anything away from Philips, he fought out of his skin that night, and they were pretty much drawing the rounds until the KO.

Anyway, regardless, he was very good.

Tyszu was great but he didn't have quite a few weaknesses, his defence was quite open and he was hit with big clean shots against Judah, Phillips, Hatton, Ukral, Hurtado, Mitchell off the top of my head, his stance was a bit wide making him a little immobile and Mitchell gave him allot of problems early. The Phillips he fought was very good and a crackhead who cleaned his act up for a short time. Ukral he made hard work of, Judah/Hurtado hurt him, Hatton outsped him, Mitchell I thought was ahead when his knee went out.

So yes very good but he'd be beatable today, even at 140lbs, especially if Marquez/Pacquaio came down to 140. Pacman-Tyszu would be very exciting though and Tyszu would time his right on Pac for sure

 

tszyu was never great - but i respect the man for going pro late and going straight to the US and serving it with no bull****.

I think he would kill everyone from 135 to 147 currently outside of Mayweather.

And even there i think he actually poses some stylistic problems to Mayweather.
Kostya was a very good boxer and he could time that right hand on everybody.

Floyd does not smother anyone, he actually stays right at that range where Kostya loves throwing that right hand.

Floyd would be the rightful favorite and probably 70 - 30 to win but i do think Kostya gives him some dicey moments.
