I saw a few swinging 'to the side' kidney and back of the head shots that I would definitely called ****ed up. I don't think he's intentionally doing that, but he aims for the peripherary of what's allowed, and the ref definitely needs to remind him of that.

What is that ref's name? I've seen him a couple of fights nad thinks he sucks

    That style worked for Hagler.

That's not hagler's style at all.

Yeah, Hagler was more of a pure boxer, and threw straighter shots. Porter reminds me of one of Hagler's opponents, Mustapha Hamsho..both in terms of rough housing and in terms of effectiveness.

It's normal to land illegal blows when you're overly aggressive like Porter was. He was literally swinging for a KO whenever he decided to open up.

Yep, that is a Hagler type style. Both are find of wild brawlers who may slip in a few illegal punches due to their wildness.
Porter is more wild and throws wider shots to Hagler, but they do sahre similar style.

I don't think he was that dirty last night. Paulie complained to the ref that his cut was due to a headbutt, but replay clearly showed it came from a hook.

Porter has a mauling style to him, so he's obviously going to look like he's using rough house tactics especially when fighting inside the pocket. But pretty much all his shots looked legal to me last night.

I wouldn't categorize Hagler as having a wild style.

Truthfully, I think he's one of the greatest offensive fighters in the history of the sport. Maybe it looks like he's just throwing caution to the wind at times, but his punches are usually set up very well, he had a good jab and good boxing technique overall.

I personally think his boxing skills are quite underrated because his "pressuring" style made him look like more of a brawler than a boxer. But the guy was versatile and could mix it up.

Normal or not illegal blows are FOULS!!! & should be called by the ref. I agree with the guy who thought the ref sucked. He certainly let Porter get away with a lot. Wonder is he's related to the judge that scored the Hopkins fight as a Shumanov win??? Both should be brought before the board:patsch

Porter did have two consecutive blatant kidney punches. And he had a few headbutt's lunging in, one of them after a punch landed. I think the cut under Paulie's eye though was not caused by a headbutt, it was from a punch or from the wrist wrapping on the glove.

He reminds me of Shane Mosley without the speed.

I wouldn't call him "dirty" the same way I wouldn't call Bradley or Ward dirty. He just doesn't give a ****... He's not going out of his way to be dirty e.g. HOPKINS (although Ward sometimes does)... He's just coming forward, doesn't care if his head gets in the way. Throwing punches, doesn't care if they go around the opponents head or body.

I noticed forearms, lacing, hitting behind the head, kidney punches, you name it, yes, he broke a lot of rules, there should have been a strong referee to keep the fight clean...............
