Man, the cruiserweight division is one, if not the most STACKED-RED-HOT division

I was looking at records and came across one, William Fernando Souza Bezerra - 42-0 (41 KO's)

The footage available is scarce and looks worse than professional wrestling.

In real CW business, What do the experts think of Michael Hunter?

Its a decent division but no p4p/truly elite fighters at this point. Bellew just beat one of the top guys and look how Stevenson handled him - utter domination. CW is sandwiched by two much stronger divisions.

Bellew was absolutely killing himself to make weight when he fought at 175. He fought at HW as an amateur (the equivalent of CW in the pros) and was walking around at 15st + when he was campaigning at 175. He looked like a cancer victim on the scales weighing in at LHW.

Gtfo! Bellew beat a can crusher in Mukabu, his best win was an old Glen Johnson for godsake. Mukabu was hyped to the extremes and he got exposed, Wilder and Anthony Joshua are next in line. Also there isnt that much exposure for the cruiserweight division in the UK or the US, thus there is nobody there who will ever be pound per pound top dog, unless Kovalev moves up and drags his American fans with him.

    Catchy words but utter bull****!

There are dozens of fellow cruiser weights who can beat Bellew, a reigning world champ. You cant say the same about no other weight divison. The thread's creator is right in saying that the cruiser weight division is stacked with talented fighters.

And lets not forget that that American hype job Wilder is currently one of the reigning heavy weight champs. He has beaten dozens of no-hopers,Molina,Duhaups,and Stiverne, and yes,Szilpka.Wilder's record is even poorer than Bellew ' s one:D

If there were any elite level Cruiserweights, they'd make a go at Heavyweight where the money is at. Any shorter fighter is going to need elite skills to beat the giants of that division. Lots of competitive matches at CW that's about it.

Lebedev is an elite fighter but he is just too small for the big boys. Not every elite cruiser can make it at the big boys' league.Size matters after all:bbb
Sure,Huck made the water very hot for Povetkin in their encounter, and Lebedev won his encounter with Huck on German soil( three blind judges scored the fight for the hometown boy though).
Does this mean that Lebedev can boil the kettle for big boys like Fury or Wlad or Wilder?? Nah,I for one dont think so.
Nevertheless,Lebedev is an elite fighter.............at cruiser weight.

If he elite, then he should dominate the 20 or so contenders. He still has to earn that label. Also he needs great competitors at well. That's a damn high standard labeling somebody an elite fighter. Who are the cruiswerweights that have the best chance to make a non believer say Lebedev is elite then? I would not hold not being able to go up to heavyweight against a cw, fyi.

    Mate,whats your definition of elite???

    Great competitors?? What about Usyk,Huck,Briedis,Dorticos,Glowaki,Wlodarczyk,Ramirez,Gassiev,
    Gevor,and so on.

Povetkin is probably the the nr.3 at heavy weight right now, after Wlad and Fury.Quite a few of our fellow posters here had Huck ahead on points in his encounter with Povetkin.Whats more far more posters had Lebedev
ahead on points after 12 rounds with Huck.
Lebedev unified the titles just a few days ago by wiping the floor with the tough Argie Ramirez.

For me Lebedev is an elite fighter and the present nr. 1 at cruiser weight. Therefore he is the king of the hill.

We seem to define the word"elite" quite differently.Every weight division has its elite fighters. They might not be all time greats and outstandingly great world champs or challengers but they form the elite of their weight division.

This current crop of cw are top-notch talent. People that are bash Bellew are pure ignorants and didn't see the fact that Bellew was draining himself to dead to compete @ LHW .

It's a really competitive division with a lot of interesting fights. Around the top 10-15, there are a lot of really good fighters. I agree maybe no one in or that close to top 5 P4P but there's some quality there for sure. Usyk I think has the potential to make his way to P4P level but for now it's still a red hot division, one that's gone ignored for a while really

I also think that Usyk could be an all time great and rule the roost for a long time if he doesnt move up to the big boys.
The problem with Usyk is that he is far too inactive and he is in a race against time.Sure,he has enough time to capture a world title and defend it a few time but to be an all time great you have to have a certain amount of truly big fights.I am afraid that Usyk will run out of time due to his long periods of inactivity between his outings to a ring.He urgently needs more fights.
