Just like Matt Macklin and Tyson Fury claim to be Irish? What are your views on Joe Bugner, Derek Chisora, Herbie Hyde, Chris Froom, Mo Farrah and so on? The list is endless of foreign athletes in Britain who Brit's claim to be British but when a British born fighter chooses to represent somewhere else, that's when it kicks off. Hypocrites.
All those athletes chose to represent the U.K. but most of them have expressed support or sentiments for the other countries they are associated with. I know Farrah and Froome have both said they would like to be supported by both their country of birth and the UK. As for Tyson Fury and Mathew Macklin, that's fair enough if they claim to be Irish, but they ARE British, can't we both claim them? :good
No, Here is what i've said backed up by stats: The majority of People in Northern Ireland want to remain part of the UK but as a devolved country I.E. Northern Ireland. http://www.ark.ac.uk/nilt/2007/Political_Attitudes/NIRELND2.html
I really don't think wandering around Belfast and asking everyone you see if they are Irish or British is a particular good idea.
A lot of them will tell you they are British. (I'm from NI and if you ask those living in my street or near by they would say they our British.) Depending on the area of NI you are in you will often see either Union flags or Irish Tricolours.
Agree. It's a total disgrace. Great young fighter turns in great performance and idiots spend pages talking utter pish.
no why dont u read a book... not everybody in the north of ireland considers themselves british... and im 1 of them:deal and btw ur own goverment signed an international agreement called the good friday agreement... why dont u read that b4 u comment on the nationality of the residents of the north of ireland :good
What and us Brits rule the goverment, we dont make the decisions my cousin was shot in Belfast and his mate shot dead in front of him.. You think he give a **** about Northern Ireland and religion.. Save me the sob story.. GOVERMENT.
Why start a thread in the British forum claiming the UK has 6 amateur boxers left in the World Championships, 3 of which are ****ing Irish you mong :nut Amateur boxing is represented by Team Ireland and Team GB seperately, there is no UK team. So Team Ireland have 5 boxers left. Team GB have 3. I think you're a tad confused.
this thread is ****ed. he wont be fighting for a side, he'll be fighting to win to make himself and his family money and become champion. hopefully all the people of Northern Ireland come together to see him box and appreciate that he is a local lad and a top contender. Scott Quigg is the fight that has to happen soon please.
its only a matter of a few years... and there will be more nationalists in the north instead of unionists... there days r numbered.. the brits will be kicked out of ireland once and for all:good
