I'm noticing as the presser for Martinez/Cotto is announced that
there is actually hype around this 'contest' like it's a great fight.
Pheew-ey. Boxing today can have mismatches like this because
the bottom feeding low info casual 'fan' allows them to. Martinez
is a coward and the worst middleweight champion in boxing history.
The photo of these 2 said it all. This is a showcase fight and nothing
more, and it seems like our sport is having too many of them. The best
fighting the best just doesn't happen in boxing anymore. Go ahead and
delude yourselves casuals by make believing that this fight means anything,
but don't wonder why boxing is dead in 5 years because great matchups
not happening WILL be the nail in the coffin of this once great sport. I'll
not be watching on June 7th. I've boycotted all Sergio Martinez fights
and any real fan will do the same.

    Sergio = #1 Middleweight

  4. Foreal man. Fights like this show how most fighters nowadays are bums. It ain't like the old days where we had Holyfield, Foreman, Leonard, and Hearns.

Talented guys who had actual heart.

Sergio is an amazing fighter of that there are no doubts. Why is he not calling out Golovkin? Why is he not looking to unify? If these fights cannot be made then move up to 168 where glory awaits along with huge purses.

Instead he fights Cotto, a man who has had more beatings than Jenna Jamiesons *****. Cotto is considerably smaller, slower and damaged.

Floyd,PAC, Klits all get destroyed if they don't continually better themselves and achieve the 'impossible'. Yet Martinez gets a free pass because he is coming back from injury? What about the string of euro level fighters he faced before the injury? His career defining win is still the knockout of a career welterweight Paul Williams.

U know one of the best signs that boxing is dying? U have to fight either Mayweather or Pacquiao for casuals to even know who u are...

That's why u have people convinced of things like "Canelo is a slow plodding, easy to hit fighter" and I've seen on too many occasions "he's no better than Brandon Rios."

People saying "Bradley has improved since fighting Pac." which are just dumb ass people not knowing how good he was before Pac just becuz they never heard of him...

    unfortunately, boxing isn't mainstream
so fighting marquee names will always be how casuals hear of second tier fighters

Martinez has trouble walking. He has said as much himself.

    This fact worries me.

People criticizing every fight is what's wrong with boxing. Boxing isn't dying. It has a rich history, and plenty of exciting fights every year. Theres no evidence to suggest that boxing is dying. Saying that is just a trend that developed over time.
