Pat Magee warns boxers to stick to the Cornflakes http://www.irish-boxing.com/2013/07/pat-magee-warns-boxers-to-stick-to-the-cornflakes/ Magee explains how banned substance got into Brian Magee's system http://www.irish-boxing.com/2013/07/manager-defends-brian-magee-after-positive-drug-test/
It's not an interesting read at all. Magee claims that he didn't knowingly use PEDs and that they accidently go into his system via legal supplements. I've heard that excuse numerous times.
I agree with what his manager said about oversight of the supplements. Ordinary people (non-professional athletes) should know whether they are getting a banned substance or not. Not everybody has a chemistry lab in their house to test these things.
The problem is that not everything is banned in all sports, or in every area. It becomes very complicated. You can't expect supplement manufacturers to supply an exhaustive listing of what in their ingredients might be disallowed where & in what sports.
I've heard that before. I'm not here to say the guy tried to cheat or didn't. However, he's not offering up anything that hasn't been offered up before.
It says on some supplement boxes that you should visit their website to see what supplements are banned.
why should a non professional person know or care if a certain ingredient on a sports banned list- is in a supplement ? Do not confuse "legal" with "banned in sports" :good
It is interesting because it was due to contamination during manufacturing. Soliman for example took a supplement that contains this substance but Magee didn't. Although the WADA lab in Cologne (I think) maintains a list of of supplements free of banned substances so there is no real excuse for what Magee did either (stupidity isn't an excuse), hence the 6 months ban.
Brian was funny talking about this on Irish radio, "If I was taking performing enhancing drugs they obviously werent that good because I got knocked out!"
