Full broadcast.Another gem off youtube. Also a short preview of srl comeback fight.

Anyone think premature stoppage, yes he was getting hit but its bobby chacon!

Barry tompkins mentions ringside that cameras or mics werent allowed in the mancini corner between rounds,1st time i have heard of a boxer not allowing that!

Chacon had no chance going into that fight. It was a mismatch of the highest order and the ref was going to stop it at some point and he certainly was not going to let Mancini tee off on the guy.

Chacon wasn't shot at this point, but he was COMPLETELY burnt out after two holocausts against Limon and Boza. The School Boy had fought two of the most life-draining, blood curdling wars I have EVER seen back to back and he basically took the Manicini fight to cash out.

I think this fight was a case of a young man growing spiritually/mentally old before his time. Just think about all the other wars, plus his notoriously party hardy ways, Valerie's suicide, and his encounters with the law. I don't blame him for showing up and sleep walking his way to a million dollar payday.

All I can say is that Bobby Chacon's life would make for the greatest boxing movie since Raging Bull. He had all the elements of a Robert Altman/John Huston-esque gritty fight flick.

He was shot early! Then got back in the groove after the tragedy.

But 135 was a stretch, and yes, he couldn't hope to maintain that pace (felt he lost to Boza 2nd time round anyway)

Still, for a fighter with such ups and downs what a lovely way to finish his career. Sadly, now paying for it.
