i think this is an even matchup and a great fight .Dont wanna here some fans caught in the past saying mancini would beat him easily cuz this is an even match. Mancini the harder puncher and diaz the better boxing skills but they still have somewhat ,tne same style
Mancini was better than Diaz in every way possible, and woulda stopped the Baby Cow in under 10 rounds. Diaz does NOT have better skills. I suggest you watch a young Mancini's shutout of JL Ramirez. Ramirez woulda stopped Diaz. Juan Diaz is one of the biggest hype jobs of the last 8 years. The Baby cow wouldnt be a blip on the radar in the 80's lightweight division. You'd never catch Ray Mancini losing to the likes of Campbell, or Malignaggi.
okay mr xplosive you might have a point ,I thought mancini was pretty damn good pre arguello and might give it to him at that point ,but you are wrong in your assesment on juan diaz he is a helluva a fighter and could hang with the best in any era and he probably would have beaten a mancini (post arguello) by decision.....RIP Deuk koo kim but he was giving mancini all he could handle before the fateful ending, and Diazs skillis were no doubt on another level than kims:!:
Please! Diaz would get shitted on by the 80's lightweights. Chavez, Rosario, Camacho, Arguello, Ramirez, Bramble, Mancini, all batter him. Hell I wouldnt even pick Juan over Jimmy Paul, Howard Davis, or Greg Haugen. I'm not even sure if he beats Sean O'Grady. Diaz lost in his PRIME to a 2nd rater in Campbell. And Nate Campbell wouldnt hang with the 80's lightweights either.
Diaz's whole claim to fame will be giving the old Marquez a tough fight for 7 rounds. But Mancini's losing effort against Arguello was far more impressive. And Ramirez is FAR better than anyone Diaz has ever beaten. Juan was a product of hype... plain and simple. Campbell exposed him for what he was.
For all of you other readrs dont believe that these guys were all competing orfighting eachother at the same time arguello moved up before camacho started whupping ass and lot of these guys never mixed it up but (hey ill give youthat he might of lost to some ofthese guys but hed be c0mptetive with all ! chavez came way after arguello u should no that so dont exaggerate!! davis had great skills but diaz would have him running, haugen would be an even match and campbell on a good night is a helluva fighter himself, by the way you forgot tyrone crawlwy
I dont see Diaz beating competitive at all with a prime Chavez, Rosario, and Camacho. Arguello woulda bombed him out in under 6 rounds. Bramble woulda beaten the living **** outta him. Davis run from Diaz? Davis didnt run from Rosario, why in the hell would he run from Diaz's pillow fists? Davis at his best schools Diaz. Howard was a faster, more talented version of Malignaggi. Tyrone Crawley is one of the few 80's lightweights that I'd favor Juan over. I think Harry Arroyo woulda given Juan a tough fight.
