I know we are not doctors, but could the twelve round limit have saved Doo Koo Kim's life? It was a savage bout, was the damage already done by the 12th round? Davey Moore collapsed in his locker room after his knock out loss to Primo Ramos.

well that 1 shot could have been at any time but the damage still remians

so yeh he could have survived (he might have even won a 12 rounder) but maybe the next fight he could die if the damage went undetected

Yeah, but still. His first fight against a World ranked opponent is Ray Mancini? The fault lies with the promoters & the WBA. Kim gave it his all against a skilled World Champion. If he was brought along properly, this tragedy might never have happened.

im not sure you cant say he wasnt of that level he gave Mancini hell, Kim was a worthy challenger just wasnt established.

I think its stringent medical checks that have saved lifes now

Does anyone think that Kim hitting the ring rope may have had something to do with it? I remember Moore's death was caused by it, and Michael Watson too hit the back of his head against the ring rope when Eubank floored him.

The damage was more then likely already done. Either he would have died/become seriously injured in a future bout shortly afterwards as with McClellan or he could have potentially died from a brutal beating after a previous one, such as when Paret died after having the **** beaten out of him back to back against Fullmer and then Griffith.

Anyone that wonders why Paret died should watch the Fullmer fight. If you didn't know which fight Paret was injured in and watched both, you wouldn't be able to choose.

Kim was in the fight evenly with Mancini up until the 11th and 12th rds..... I think Kim's goose was cooked by round 13......... Kim never should have been allowed out for rd 14..... Big mistake....... The blows that laid-out an exhausted Kim in round 14 is what prolly did him in........ Still, the fight was fair...... I also would like to see 15 rounders back in swing again...... Cheerio.....

I didnt see that one, but I did see Fullmer-Robinson. Everytime they were in a clinch. Robinson was gettin hit behind the head...
