Ouch. Can't blame you for making that pick he was supposed to be the next big thing.

I just picked Montes because I wanted to be different and wanted to pick someone that wasn't an obvious choice. Also if he did happen to be a success that would allow me to be a smarmy git which is always a plus. I seriously hope his trainer is Nacho Beristain because he needs some help to get rid of some of his glaring mistakes.

 

I considered picking him because I liked what I saw against Honorio, he has good raw talent which I like. I like Lou Di Bella but like other smaller US Promoters he doesn't have many TV Slots and this puts him at a disadvantage compared to a Golden Boy or Top Rank fighter and due to this it means he will either be inactive (a la Marcus Johnson) or he will fighting crappy opposition (a la Edwin Rodriguez well until his next fight when he steps up).

 

I'm sure he will be out before the year is out Golden Boy have like a million TV slots to fill. The only problem for you is that Golden Boy are complete cack when it comes to developing and match making young fighters, even more so when they aren't based in California.

 

He is a quintessential Mexican fighter unfortunately he isn't a great one. I think I got a hazy mist over my eyes when I saw that knock out, I watched his last fight and his defence is horrible and it explains why his KO percentage isn't that high.

I'm not exactly a Boxing dictionary when it comes to technique but some of his mistakes are pretty obvious, he leans in way to much he basically he puts his head into the other guys chest or even croch at times making him ripe for an uppercut, he throws some seriously wide winging punches and he looked bamboozled by speed at times. I think I might be losing a fair few points with this guy atsch

Unless he works on his mistakes and fullfills his potential which if he does then I might be onto a winner.

Yeah I did, thanks for putting it up it was a great watch there was a lot of interesting stuff in there. But I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed the two Americans didn't take a pasting, I'm not sure why :blood

 

I know what you mean that was weird, 5 days training and beating 10 rounds fighters and Mexican Amateur Champions somehow I find that hard to believe.

But hey it's the Discovery Channel we all know they tell nothing but the truth. You know what I might give this Boxing malarkey a go, give me a month with Emmanuel Steward and I will be ready to KTFO of Amir Khan.

Ismayl Sillakh...nothing concrete but he could face Cuban Yordanis Despaigne on a Shobox card. No idea when though.

Bit of an odd fight. What's the call for that fight? I wouldn't complain its a tastey matchup but its kinda worrying from our POV if he takes a tricky foe like that and gets no extra points for it.
