We all know George was in his absolute best shape each time he fought Frazier. Joe, however, was not. Say a Manila Frazier vrs. George.
Using the tactics Joe used in the second Foreman fight, might Joe have gotten this fight past 6, in turn, fighting a tiring George? Remember,
this would be "before" that torturous beating Joe took in Manila.

Frazier just could not take George's punch, and George was not afraid of him.

Puts Frazier at a gross disadvantage.

If they fought 10 times... Foreman would win by KO 10 times!

The shot, fat, and out of shape Frazier almost took George into the sixth round
with George already breathing heavy. I would think a Manilla trained Frazier could
at least take George past the fifth and maybe start to gain while George
tires. This fight could get interesting if Joe could manage to get into the seventh or eighth round.

It's hard to tell how good Foreman would have been in 1975. He looked awful against very poor opposition in the Foreman vs. Five fiasco, but he might have got sharp for someone like Frazier.

I think the Manilla Frazier would do very well, but he was just a bit too old at that point and was easier to hit than in January 1974.

I do think that Frazier could beat the 1976 Foreman if he was in his prime and using that gameplan. The 1976 Foreman was still very, very good and in some senses was better equipped for fighting Frazier (his jab was much more precise and his punches were shorter) but the gameplan was one of the best I've ever seen and could have worked if Foreman didn't use that great footwork of his to corner Frazier on the ropes and take him out in the 5th, just as Foreman was beginning to tire.

If we match the 1971 Frazier against the post Zaire Foreman of 1976/77.and Joe used his gameplan of their second fight, the bout would be interesting for a few rounds. Thing is,Joe could n't sustain that defensive style over a long enough period. Any version of George in the 70's would always be a nightmare for Frazier.

Yes,but Joe had fought in Manila during that year, which took a lot out of him.

Frazier would lose his head-again...and again...and again. Hopefully it wouldn't take 6 KD's this time around.
