Would have been one hell of a phone booth battle. Frazier was ready to put everything on the line that day and had never fought harder since the FOTC. It would take him a long time to reach toneys head because he was so damn elusive, but fraziers relentless body attacks and stinging hooks+toneys 230+ lbs of mid section blubber woukd be a horrible combination. Toney has his moments but frazier eventually wears him down and stops him sometime in the 9th.
Manila Frazier was a man possessed. 8-4 to Manila Frazier. Loses some early rounds before beating the **** out of Toney down the stretch.
Anyone really think Toney holds up if he's fighting in the sun and a ringside temperature of what, 106 degrees? I sure don't. I cannot think of too many heavies other than Ali/Joe capable of handling that kind of energy sapping heat and continuing to fight every round at such a high level.
An in shape Toney can fight 100 rounds. It does not matter. He is so relaxed in there, picking his shots , does not waste anything.
For the sake of te argument this fight is not in Manila, this is just the 1975 version of joe Frazier fighting the best version of toney at HW
Joe Frazier wouldn't let him do that. He would force Toney to fight him off for 3 minutes of every round. Frazier didn`t give his opponents the time or the room to rest and relax.
