Mike Weaver one of the more inconsistent fighters, against Jack Dempsey?
Weaver, when he was good was good.
Is he good enough to stop Jack in his tracks?

    Let's have 1920 s rules and gloves.

Yes he does Weaver is a slow starter and Dempsey is one of the most ferocious fighters of all time early on.

Bad style match up for Weaver, Dempsey by TKO early.

    I like this prediction.
Tho I must say weaver can bang as well, so Dempsey could find himself rattled at least.

The thing is with Weaver he takes a few rounds to get going and even then he kind of fights in a one paced type of way and doesn't really lift the pace.

Weaver is a well conditioned fighter and if you let him get warmed up he's a very dangerous opponent with a big left hook.

The issue is Dempsey would jump on Weaver from the opening bell and not allow him to settle. So I don't like this match up for Weaver he's a slow starter against one of the fastest starting most ferocious Heavyweights of all time.

Came to post the same thing.

If Mike could survive the first six rounds or so, I could see leaning his way to come through somewhere in the later rounds … but I don’t see him surviving the early onslaught of a guy like Dempsey. As you said, slow starter vs Dempsey is just a bad matchup all around.

I’ll go with the Mauler in three by TKO.

The thing with Dempsey is size doesn’t matter that much, he’s proven his power carries up, carries up to fighters with famously good chins who were as big as they get in Willard - a question of skill? No question about it, Weaver gets got by Dempsey early.

I am a fan of Weaver he hit way harder than his record suggests his hands were heavy but he was kind of slow as in a slow starter and his punches....he could fight all night but it is his slow start that lost him the fight with Dokes that I would say gives Dempsey the edge

Dempsey never faced that kind of fast twitch with the power and strength. The big hitters he faced were lumbering gate swingers.

    But what about Dempsey himself?
He was fast, hit hard as hell.
Weavers Chin could let him down.
