After Saturday's whupping, many of us boxing fans, if not most, have Manny ranked as an ATG, not just a HoF. Its hard for me to say if its top 30 or 50 or 100, but I have him in there. So if Floyd fights and beats him, does he automatically get a pass into the same category? I would have to say yes. Pac is clearly in his prime. They are clearly around the same size. They are the two best fighters alive p4p right now. The stakes of their fight cannot get any higher. So... this is what makes ATG. By beating other ATG in their primes. Basically no matter who wins this fight, the rest of history will read that so and so was great, but the other guy was better. What do you guys think?
Not for me. For example, Roberto Duran beat SRL and that was a case of someone beating an eventual all time great, but Duran already had one of the greatest spelss at lightweight ever. He also went on to have many other exceptional victories, moore, barkley etc. So overrall, id say Mayweather still needs to beat peolpe such as Mosley, maybe Paul Williams if he want to truly become and atg.
Floyd is already an all-timer. So is Pacquiao. The winner of their fight lays claim to a better spot on the list, however.
Yep, the fact that they ARE both All-Timers who both just put on classic performances makes this the natural superfight that it is.
Floyd, who I don't even like, is already an ATG. He went 40-0 grabbing six major titles in five different weight classes. I don't know where I'd put him as an ATG but he's definitely an ATG for crying out loud. He doesn't need a fight with Pac to get him there.
