"The rules say that you can still fight for a title as long as you don't exceed the weight limit, and as long as both parties in the fight agree with it. How can you argue with that?" said Steward.

Okay, so I have been seeing a lot of fuss here about catchweight. This is not something new in boxing, how come people are making this big of an issue now? I dont see any problem with a catchweight being involved. I mean, if the other party agrees with it, that's like saying 'i dont mind going up/down (a little i.e. 1lb, 2lbs), i can make that weight. Im confident and im going to kill you!'

Ok, so the Pac-Cotto was a cw. The FMJ/Marquez was also a cw. It's so funny when people say that cotto lost because of the weight. And when marquez lost.. WHAT? he was outskilled by fmj! Not to mention fmj came in overweight.

So lets check the rules again, catchweight is fine. coming overweight is?
Now that's what I call issue.

Catchweights weren't too detrimental, as they were rare. Now there's no point in weight divisions at all. Blame Hopkins.

you can break it (the catchweight agreement) and pay for it (the fine agreement) no problem especially if it was your promoter (oscar) who pays for your being an unprofessional.

Why run marathons when you can poke a needle up your ass? I'm still not clear whether Pac even gets tested at all, since all tests will come back positive due to his apparent med needs. if i win the powerball lottery. HOW THE **** DO CATCHWEIGHTS WORK!! i will be wealthy and have lots of people saying they are my friends, and hear from many relatives, and a lot of women will want to have sex with me and tell me they love me. id say plasterito would win. I second this! my aunt died because this thread is the funniest I have ever read.. The **** did I just step into?...... what is this I don't even just stick needles in my ass and second this

Catch weight fights are rare. I wish they did away with catch weight fights period. The T.S is giving PAc props, and trying to **** on Floyd for coming in over the agreed upon weight of 144 lbs for his fight with JMM. Typical *******. Floyd always comes in shape, yet Floyd is so evil he has to cheat JMM in a fight that was always promoted as a ww fight. Only *******s thought Floyd could make 144 lbs with no problem. When are people going to realize that catchweights take something away from fighters. Take this thought out of the fighters hands. Ask Lalonde and Cotto how they now feel about catchweight fights...

it gives one fighter the advantage and 2 or 3 pounds can hurt a fighter ,if you ever had to lose weight to fight then you know what im talking about.

'catchweights take something away from fighters.'
interesting. are you referring to the one moving up or down? both of them are making 'sacrifices' right? lets take a look at marquez who jumped 2 weight classes against floyd who supposed to spare 3lbs below the ww limit, which he didnt, but let's assume he did weigh 144. ok, so are you suggesting that the one who cuts weight is the only one at a disadvantage? and the one bulking has the advantage?

Once again, rarity then, depressingly commonplace now. WTF is so hard to understand?
