Poor or homeless? There is a difference.

    I don't know about Margarito.
I can understand putting an asterisk over the paper title that Pac supposedly won (and made him 10-division or 9-division chamption, whatever), but it doesn't remove the fact that Margarito had an overwhelming advantage over Pac on fight night.
We all saw what happened when Margarito connected a gift body shot(or shots).
What I'm saying here is I have never heard of anyone else on the caliber of Pac that would give any opponent such an advantage just to give an interesting fight.
(And for the record, I don't think Berto or Ortiz stood more chance against Pac than Bradley, and we all saw what happened to Bradley)
I think it's an "OK win". Pac performed extremely well. Nothing great. But nothing like Pac-Mosley too.

I am talking about this in hindsight of course, but yeah I can understand that since the only "appeal to the public" that that fight had was Pac was supposedly moving up in weight again, let's include that in the list:

    1. Diaz
    2. Clottey
    3. Margarito
    4. Mosley

He was technically homeless when he went to Manila (the capital of the Phil) to earn a living for his starving family back home.

    :deal

Pac came from the poorest upbringing selling cigarettes on the streets and dropped out of school at age 14 to help his family. He looked to boxing as a means to put food on the table, not because he thought it was cool or was born into a privileged boxing family, and he made 100 pesos per fight ($1-2). He started from the bottom, ducking no one along the way, and now he here. Respect.

Too bad he had to use PEDS and never learned to be his own man.

He is still a child when it comes to handling his business....He'll be the perfect politician....corrupt to the core and maleable as putty.:deal

Poverty in some of these nations is not as bad, also its more than just economic issues. In the USA being homeless can be much more worse than in Africa or South Asia, because most homeless people in the USA are under enormous cultural pressure that gets them marginalized within their own nation, to the point where an illegal immigrant has advantages over them & its almost impossible for a homeless American to ever get a job, because of the social stigma associated with that...All they have availble is petty crime and dangerous drugs, which once they get into they are eternally homeless.

In the 3rd world being poor is bad, but the best of them end up as the as neo-nomads who many times find opportunities in new lands...As usual Neo-Nomads follow the trials of likened types and eventually displace older groups.

certain hospitals in America HAVE to treat people and pass on the bills to everyone else, prisons in America HAVE to take medical care of even someone on death row. America is so generous to the destitute and the downtrodden that sometimes it is in your best interest to try to live off the system instead of raising to the bottom of a high tax bracket. America is very kind to the poor and the destitute. I know a lot of people who have more foodstamps than they can ever use. :tired

3rd world countries are awful, and I imagine Manny's young life was pretty bad. No one is going to help you, in America everyone expects help and thinks they deserve it.

and (illegal) immigrants DON'T have it better than regular lowest common denominator citizens. They can't even get minimum wage jobs so the employers who do hire them can treat them however they want. The only way they can abuse the system is as above, hospital care, and having children who would be citizens and subject to those "handouts"

not many people know barrera grew up in a well off family, his dad is in the film business. thats why morales hates his guts. he sees him as a spoilt brat who got everything

i see barrera as a guy that did not need to fight, he was on track to becoming a lawyer and stopped to become a fighter

some guys dont need to fight, but they have that fire in their belly!
