manny cant close the gap anymore - floyd has done a leonard

hbo are always biased towards manny. Listen to the first fight's commentary. Shameful stuff, saying pac was ouboxing even though he wasn't landing.

 

Marquez clearly wonthe fight and it was not close. They gave the Verdict to Pacman to salvage his career.

 

Mannys got plenty left in his legs, plenty quickness and power, but last night he fought a boxer who knew exactly what he was going to do before he did.
Then he either just stepped outta distance, or countered him.

Pac couldnt see or couldnt react to JMM's punches.

JMM was magnificent, and his physique was built up properly this time, and he looked bigger than Pac, and stronger. He also hurt Pac and that was part of the reason he was unable to close the gap, as he was getting tagged almost everytime he tried, or looking clumsy.

Pac would still beat all the guys hes looked great beating, hed beat Bradley etc too, but JMM has his number and Money May would do likewise and probably stop him

 

I thought Marquez showed serious speed. His quicknessof foot getting out of range and his speed when closing the gap after Manny threw a punch was very impressive.

I thought as much as JMM looked big and solid Manny looks like he had lost even more size. Look at the difference in size and muscularity between Manny in the Hatton/Cotto fights and then the Shane/JMM fights. I see a difference.

 

I think the Cotto and Margarito fights took a lot out of Pac. As Money May says: "There's nothing cool about getting hit."

 

Know it's been said before, but this the same Marquez that Mayweather completely controlled for twelve rounds and didn't get out of second gear.

 

Not quite. Marquez was better conditioned this time and Mayweather didn't make the catchweight. Also, as ever, styles make fights. Still think Money May school the Pacman, though.

 

Manny struggled against a fighter he's struggled with twice before. Hard to read too much into that IMHO.

I agree with the criticism of the HBO commentary, I didn't score the fight but there were at least 2 rounds they gave to Pac where I thought "wait a minute....".

I think it's significant in showing that Pacquiao hasn't really improved at all since those first couple of Marquez fights, and if he did have a golden 18 months when he did improve, then he's regressed.

Mayweather often spoke about the way Manny went from 'ordinary to extraordinary' and that's why he wanted the drugs test. Maybe he's evaluating that opinion now and looking at those Cotto, Hatton fights in a different light, and thinking it was just a case of a freakishly powerful little man using his lower weight advantages against comparitively lumbering welterweights. I think that's how it's looking now for most boxing fans.

 

We'll see I guess but I think at the very least the jury is still out on that given the history of the fights between the 2 men. Sometimes one fighter just always gives another one problems.

 

I had Pac by 4 rounds. no way JMM won the fight. I don't see him having much chance against Mayweather.

 

I dont think this fight means he isn't close to Mayweather, Pac just can't beat Marquez's style that happens with some fighters. Floyd's style wouldn't be as bad for Manny as Marquez was
