Let's make one thinng clear: Pacquiao is a balsy dude to want to fight Cotto! If he beats Cotto then he will have cemented his legacy for ever and people can shut the **** up including me. Think about it he would have beaten both the best JWW and arguably the best WW in the world in back to back fights, period. I just dont think he can deal with Cotto's mix of size, power, speed (very underrated), heart and boxing skill. This will be the biggest challenge of Manny's career bar none. I guess he feels Cotto is the easiest fight for him considering that FMJ and Mosely are the other two lucrative options. He might feel that Miguel is the best style for him, but Cotto can box his ass off as well as bang. Manny can not beat any of these guys, just too good and too skilled. IMHO
All i see are straight lefts coming Cottos way, Pac is too fast, that in and out style of his will be more effective that the Margo/Clottey Pressure styles. Theres no doubt in my mind that Pac will open Cotto's cut again early in the fight, Acouple lefts mixed with some uppercuts and night night for Cotto............. I really hope im wrong tho, i like Cotto
He's gonna need alot of money to run another failed election process. The people will not vote him in until he's "Done". Clearly he still has alot to offer. Pac the politician suck's... Pac the fighter is an ATG.
Pacquiao is the man, truly a "once in a lifetime" fighter. As a huge fan of his for a long time I have to admit I remember having discussions with PacDbest about Pacquiao being in Duran/Leonard/Hearns/Hagler's leagues and having doubts about Pacquiao being a once in a lifetime type of fighter, now I can see how he was right and how I was stupid to doubt a fighter I'm a big fan of based on the Morales loss and how one-dimensional Pac used to be. One thing is for sure, any fight Pac is involved in is a great one. Who would have imagined we would be discussing Pac/Cotto, Pac/Hatton and Pac/Mayweather?. Pacquiao is one of a kind and I'm proud to enjoy/support him in his prime. It will take A LOT for Mayweather to surpass Pacquiao as the greatest of this generation if Pac beats Cotto next and what I mean by A LOT is not just a win over Pac, but some major wins after it too. I believe even if Mayweather beats Pac after the JMM fight he needs his last three fights to be major wins too to beat Pacquiao otherwise Pac remains ahead even if he loses to him.
Everyone has a plan until they're hit. You are saying everything that Pac is going to do, but fail to mention how he'll react once he's hit with a couple of good ones.
I'm sure he will be able to take it if he's cornered into a situation where he has to eat some. Pacquiao's defense is very underrated, he can literally beat Cotto based on movement and movement alone by just jumping in throwing a few combinations and out..etc. Cotto needs to stand still to unload bombs and Pac won't be standing still to allow him.
I am pretty sure deep down inside most people know how great he is, but some are in denial partly thanks to some pac fans going overboard. Overall it evens out pretty well, and regardless of those who love him or those who wants him to be proven wrong to discredit his past achievements, he is gaining his popularity either way. I do agree that he probably does view Cotto as easiest among the big 3 at WW. But imo Pac is looking forward to Floyd much more, just the timing and such isn't the most suitable atm. Mosley is probably the most avoided, not saying he is ducking Mosley, but Mosley would be the most difficult fight versus reward ratio.
I would somewhat agree, I noticed Pac does better against the bigger fighters, and doesn't do to well against other sluggers. But we'll have to see, maybe Pac sees Cotto as the bigger challenge and wants to end all the questioning
Pac doesn't feel Cotto is easier than Mayweahter or Mosley. Maywaether decided to fight MArquez, and Arum prefers Cotto over Mosley cause he promotes Cotto. Pac would fight any one of them as he has stated many times. To say Pac decided to fight Cotto cause he's the easiest option is incorrect. In fact, Arum wanted to make Pac vs the winner of Clottey/Cotto since the day that Mayweather & Marquez announced their fight.
I agree with you but after the loss to marg and the poor showing against Clottey, I can tell you with absolute certainty that he is not going to get the credit he deserves should he win.
Speaking for myself I really don't think that he has anything left to prove. He has beaten the best at every weight class and taken the highest profile and riskiest fights. It's not until after he beats guys that people decide that they were old or washed up or anything like that.
