A combination of two that can happen that will lead to a stoppage.

Clottey is KNOWN FOR HIS LOW ACTIVITY in rounds.

If he lays against the ropes and "balls up in that defensive shell" and takes a ton punches (ala the Cotto fight)...combine that with "MR. QUICK STOPPAGE" Ref Jay Nady...He'll stop it!!!

Precisely what i was trying to get accross, anybody who trades with manny are likley to get TKO'd fact, hes one of the most dangerous fighters out there, not because he hits so hard but because he hits you that fast you dont see them coming and by the time the first 10 register chances are the refs called a halt

Very very slim chance of a stoppage by Pacquiao. His best bet is to go for UD. He barely got a mercy stoppage on Cotto. Clottey has much better defense and is much heavier than Cotto. If anything, he'll get a UD if Clottey doesn't properly utilize his weight/size advantage.

I would agree with you, though Clottey a true welter and the bigger man between the two, some boxing fans might still consider this a walk in the park for Pac. Knowing Pacquiao, whose strength and quickness is already given, always bothers to study his opponent very well and come fully prepared everytime he steps in the ring. With that could again surprise and overwhelm a fighter like Clottey to win an easy UD or even KO. Paquiao happens to be in the welterweight division now and he will be facing one legit fighter on Joshua Clottey which some are afraid to pick. I am pretty sure Pacquiao - Clottey is a great fight to watch this year.

With everything that's gone on with Team Pacquiao, you better believe a much louder contingent will be talking about adding asterisks to Pacquiao's last three wins if Clottey prevails. It'll be STEROIDS this, and so and so was SHOT that... I fully expect see threads like; "De La Hoya, Hatton, And Cotto Were All Shot!" and "Pacquiao Couldn't Juice Up For This One!" should it go Clottey's way.

The asterix would be meaningless. Well, maybe a certain idiot contingent might make a ruckus, but it wouldn't carry any water. Just be more of the same from the loud mouths we have today.

I'd say Cotto is a heavier puncher than Pacquiao and we can see what Clottey thinks of Cotto's punches:

How come Mayweather does not fight anybody with the caliber of Clottey, oh my bad he wants to fight Matthew Hatton.
