I was a little surprised that he didn't cut him loose after the infamous "it was our fault not making the fight happen in 2010" video given Team Pac's general PR obsession. Having said that, I'm surprised he cut him loose now. I guess someone has to be the fall guy when you let Jeff Horn slug away on you for half the fight. Pacquiao had/has too many yes men. Freddie, in recent years more and more, was not a yes man for Pac anymore. What do all rich and powerful people love? Yes men... By the time it was remotely logical to perhaps seeks a new trainer to add extra folds, Pac was never going to listen to anything from the new voice anyways. You cannot question the immense success Pac and Roach had on each other.

 

They are a great team. None are overrated and they made each other.
It will go down as one of the greatest tandem in history.
Dundee-Ali/ Leonard, Steward-Hearns, Arcel-Duran, Roach-Pac.

 

I don't get roach,s thinking...its pretty clear he needs a younger man to do the mitts...help with the communication etc. He was pretty much hopeless in the corner in the mayweather fight. Not his fault the illness has started to take its toll physically but surely he could have got a younger man to help with things. The only thing stupider than Freddy still doing the pads is pacman deciding to get trained by his buboy.

In Freddy's defence...he was pretty good on the pads...knew the game well before the illness started having an effect.

Can someone explain the point in the mitts work?

Every fighter i see is just chasing a guy around the ring, who's like twice their age.....

It's promo ****, and it's not at all all the training they do.

Besides, no trainer was going to change Manny.. Manny is Manny. Few guys switch trainers and honestly really switch styles from what they were... Wlad comes to mind as one he actually did change with Steward.

 

It's one on one time with the trainer to talk over the game plan and

combination they will employ during the fight and talk it over.

Here I was, just thinking that 100% of a boxers training camp consisted of just mitt work......

 

I always assumed it was just because it looks cool for the cameras.

Because yeah. Obviously mitt work with Roach isn't going to do **** all for anyone.
