..his hand speed and power is what won him the fight, but jeez, I just re-watched the first four rounds and he took a lot of full bloodied shots from Cotto bang on his right ear. No wonder his ear was ****ed up, ear drum burst and needed bandaging after the fight.

Seriously, the amount of punishment he took from Cotto during that fight and previous fights is bound to take it's toll sooner or later.

Whatever happened to Manny's bobbing and weaving? Has he become complacent? Does he think he can get the job done using his power alone?

I consider myself a fan of the Pac's, but I have to say his defence during the Cotto fight was almost Hatton-esque - it's going to catch up with him sooner or later.

If he neglects his defence like this against Mayweather then he is going to lose. Floyd is a ****, we all know this, but we also know he has the power and mad skills to punch Manny's head in if Pac does the same thing again.

he took chances because he knows he can take cotto's punches. Not to mention cotto is also an elite fighter.

Yeah, he did. I think Mayweather would catch him with greater regularity.

but that's just it - he got banged up pretty bad, even his ear drum burst. His movement was just a fraction of what it has been in the past. I'm thinking it wasn't just tactics, but some complacency is creeping in to his game.

Either way, if he keeps getting hit like that, it's only a matter of time before he gets knocked out. And too much punishment is going to slow him down too - something which is essential to his success.

That did surprise me a bit, not that he got hit that's nothing new, but the fact he was willing to get hit.THe rope-a-dope made ALI proud IMO LOL.

I somewhat agree with this. Even in some of the later rounds, I thought Cotto shook Pac with a few punches.

Pac, while talented beyond most any fighter you'll see, sometimes takes "breaks in thought" during fights.

Like Paulie says, anyone who gets in there with Cotto is going to take a beating, even if you win. Miguel is a top tier fighter and he has thudding power.

Maybe he really was just trying to prove something. Like he said, he wanted to prove he was stronger and test his power. Not bright but he made the choice. I think he could've been out of the way on a lot of those but Cotto is still a smart enough fighter, he would've landed some good shots regardless.

He did that on purpose, he was pissed off people were saying Cotto was the stronger man by far. He proved a point by deliberately taking punches from Cotto. And mentally broke Cotto at the same time.

Geez, and some of us were being called New Age pansies for saying Cotto took too many shots.

I think Manny will be ok.

before the fight - manny doesn't have the best defense... he gets hit a lot when he fights boxers. Cotto's timing is one of the best, Miguel cotto is not oscar and hatton blah blah blah...

after the fight - manny got hit too much.

This reminds me of Erik Morales being asked by Merchant why he went southpaw and risked getting ko'd by Pac when he could've played it safe. Erik replies, "Did you like it?" Merchant says yes. "Well, ok then."

Same applies here. You liked it, right?

Manny was giving you your money's worth like he said he'd do. :deal
