biased in what way? Pac is currently my favourite boxer.

It's just I've seen it before time and time again: elite athletes at the very top can get complacent with their success and let their standards slip without them even knowing it. I just hope it doesn't happen to Pac because when he's at his very best it's just awesome.

And also if he fights Floyd he's going to have to fight possibly than he has ever done before.

Yes you are correct that he took to many punches against. I knew Cotto would be able to outbox him at times and hit him well which played a part in my pre-fight analysis that Cotto would win. Where I have to give credit to Pac Man is that while unsettled he took and took over and prevailed decisively against the bigger, stronger man who is technically good also with a very good ability of beating fast southpaws. I could discount elements of Pac Man's victories over ODLH, David Diaz and Hatton but not the Cotto victory. He was under real threat and showed his development as a great fighter which he undoubtedly is. Yes I firmly believe he will come a cropper against PBF but that is another thing altogether.

I only watched the post fight conference last nite and when i saw mannys face i thought damn!!!!! What was funny was roach made out (in the press conf) that it was ok manny was not really hurt then manny said he was hurt. U cud see from his face he also got battered a bit and battered cotto more

Cotto's was more powerpunching and pacbeasts was peppering from various angels more shots that was the difference and the mentalbreakdown

it's actually funny when you saw manny's face now when you hear beastman say he was hiding the pain you can tell in some shots he was hiding it from his facial expression

That's because Cotto is a good fighter. You can't expect a blowout every time every round. Manny dominated the fight enough.

Cotto was outboxing him in the first round. He did stand in front of cotto as early as the second round to lure him into a brawl. This was a deviation from roach's original game plan but it worked.

I agree that this kind of punishment will take its toll on him sooner or later.

Same observation here. The body shots he took made him clumsy for sure.

For example, Roach told Pac to finish Cotto in Round 11. Pac was not able to finish him that round. Pac threw a lot of shots in the air. He controlled the fight but was not able to muster enough energy to KO Cotto not until the 12th round.

Are you really his fan? Your worry if it's genuine seems a little too late. The guy took MAB'S, Morales' and JMM's best punches. He took a lot of leather particularly against Morales and JMM . . . and the latest Cotto and the guy is about to retire . . . why worry now? :D

Yeah there's not much weaving and bobbling against DLH, Hatton and Cotto . . . that only shows the Pac's fighting style is still evolving . . . it changes according to the opponent and battle plan. :deal

i like this thread. everyone seems to have valid points.

i do agree with everyone that manny does get hit and it was no surprise that cotto got in quite a few good ones.

but i also see the ts' point. if you look at his fights with mab, em and jmm, manny never really stayed on the ropes unless he was driven there, and in those events he'd always try to leap out of harm's way. in the cotto fight he seemed to do a rope-a-dope-like thing where he'd just stand with his guard up right in front of cotto. i don't remember him doing this much before. whether that was his pride, his gameplan, or the effects of cotto's shots, only manny knows.

How is him taking shots in one fight gonna take its toll in the next fight? I thought those kinds of things happen over the course of a few fights. DLH and Hatton rarely hit him, if at all. That means that since the JMM II fight and before Cotto, he hasn't been hit much for over a year. That should certainly have healed his body quite a bit.

So no, I disagree that the punches he recieved from Cotto would take its effect anytime soon. No matter how much punches he took.

No, currently because I've been watching boxing for over 20 years.

Boxers, like all professional sportsmen, come and go. Pac's currently my favourite boxer.

i think the rope-a-dope is manny's part of game plan to disrupt cotto's awesome timing, you cannot do the in and out move to cotto at all times or else he'll time you with his powerful jab as he adjusts to manny's speed..

anyway, the ts made some valid points but you have to consider the ability of cotto especially his brilliant timing which for sure will cause pacquiao to be hit a lot..
