your body can heal, your head rarely does. it doesn't matter how good you are, the more shots you take, the more chance of lasting effects. But this is the risk these guys take - for the money, but also for the buzz and the glory.

I think Cotto would disagree with the thread.

As some pointed out, he wants to prove something to himself (and to everyone) that he can engage and take a punch at this level. In one of the breaks in between rounds, Roach was telling him not to fight Cotto's fight but he insisted. I don't think his agility to bob and weave has diminished gauging from his movements up til the later rounds. It was his choice whether dumb or not, but would you have known he can take power shots as powerful as Cotto's if he hadn't done this? Heck, we'd still have threads here saying "Pac's chin still hasn't been tested above 130 lbs...blah blah" Maybe, just maybe he planned this all along even against Roach's advice to show future opponents (May) that he can walk through your best shots and come at you at will.

I said before the fight, if Pac beats Cotto, they I really have to respect him. I had the fight a toss-up. I was very impressed with Pac. Cotto is no pushover, Hell, he beat Mosely!

yes, the rope-a-dope certainly appeared to be a change of plan and quite tactical. It shows his ability to fight tactically. And unexpected. When you think about it, I don't think anyone anywhere would have predicted him using rope-a-dope. Team Cotto wouldn't have prepared for it.

Does anyone know if Roach even knew about it?

it was buboy who designed that move..:D

seriously, i think it was really part of roach's plan, if it was not then manny would have stopped doing it the first time..

if pac didn't get hit that much, we will be hearing "cotto is shot", "cotto is weight drained", "cotto is damaged goods" etc. actually, i'm hearing these excuses already, but not that loud like the fights with oscar and ricky.

How can you KO an opponent who refuses to engage. Pac was making a mocking sign for Cotto to engage but he was on survival mode. If Cotto did not backpedal starting from round 6, he would not eben see round 9.

Yes because manny is a real warrior who goes to war in fights, not be a ***** and run for 12 rounds.
He also stood right infront of Cotto and let him hit him a few times. After he tasted his power, he spanked his ass.

pac is almost 31 now. he started boxing at age 16 and has 15 years of come forward style. the last couple of years, he improved alot but it doesn't mean he was still peak physically. if morales was labelled shot at age 29, it doesn't take a genious that pac could be well past his prime but was masked by his tremendous improvement in skills. and with these brutal wars with great fighters like morales, marquez, barrera and cotto we would soon see his decline.

Manny can be thanked a lot for how much he engaged Cotto. PAC could have made it a lot more one sided and less dramatic, but he decided like he always does to make it a fight and give the fans what they paid for. PAC could have boxed Cotto on the outside easy but he faught toe to toe with the bigger opponent.

For Floyd PAC will have a completely new and revised game plan. He won't make it easy for Floyd and vise versa.
