Yea, Pac got hit and hit hard at times. However, I look at Cotto's face and I look at Pac's ear. Then I think, it wasn't such a bad trade off. If anyone took too much punishment, it certainly wasn't Pac, hell the guy gave a concert afterwards. LOL.
Like I said before the fight, Cotto IS an accurate puncher. If people thought it was gonna be a DLH or Hatton replay where Pac didn't get hit good more than 3 times they were seriously mistaken. But Pac did impressed on how well he could take Cotto's shots.
Pac just doesn't have a tight enough D, which is gonna cost him against PBF, yeah Mayweather is an unlikeable arrogant ***** but he does know how to fight, Manny's Defense is too loose for him to beat Mayweather.
Pac is there to be hit. This isn't news. He's an offense-minded fighter and doesn't know any other way to fight. When he gets in the ring with Floyd, he won't know what to do once Floyd starts thoroughly outboxing him from the outside. I've seen Manny look puzzled in the ring many times. To say he has weaknesses would be an understatement.
He did take some good shots but I was still very impressed with his defence. I was surprised there wasn't as much head movement but we later learned he stood in front of Cotto to prove a point, that he could handle his power. When Pac did this, a few good shots did get through but mostly Cotto was hitting Manny's arms or gloves so his defence was pretty solid. I didn't like him staying on the ropes, but again that was intentional, if a little stupid. Pac will ALWAYS take shots because he's a risk taker an an offensive fighter. One reason why his defence doesn't compare to Mayweather is because Mayweather pot shots and doesn't take many risks. If Manny did this, I guarantee he would take less shots too, but that's not the type of fighter he is. I think his defence is very good, considering the number of punches he lands. Compare him to other offensive fighters and see how many punches they have to take to land their own, compared to Pac.
