The meaning I understand is pitting guys from differnt eras against each other.

    Whats the other?

    both means two.

This thread is nonsensical in that its saying Manny is p4p number 1 but loads of guys are p4p better than him....I think

Of course not, as you know being P4P #1 is based on multiple factors including accomplishments/resume, ect. It's not always about who actually beats who - even though that's all it should be. Like Larry Merchant says, the true meaning of P4P is all things being equal, if everyone weighed the same, who wins the fight?

There is no perfect science to this stuff. The reality is some guy who's ranked #12 or #16 or whatever might have the goods to beat the #1 guy, whether that's P4P, or in regular divisional rankings. Once you get close enough to the top, everyone is capable of beating everyone to some extent, theoritically, potentially.

You are an extremely generic thinker my friend, and you are completely on your own with this stuff.

I agree with this definition, although some sort of minimum resume requirement would be needed, ie its way too early to consider Gmaboa for any such accolade.

    Agreed.

The quality of opponents and how you performed are good indicators and basis on how you would fare in a mythical head to head match-ups.
