First of it is only natural that both guys will be nervous for this fight, this is their biggest fight of their careers, but it's how you act on those nerves. Floyd hasn't been talking much, he's been out of character so you can see that as nerves playing a part or maybe he's just too focused to chat rubbish. Personally though at this weigh-in, Manny couldn't stay still. He can smile as much as he wants and act calm, but when the nerves are making you move where you can't even stand still, then that's a problem. Judging by what I saw, Manny is going to waste a lot of energy on nerves. Floyd is also nervous, don't get me wrong, but Floyd is not wasting too much energy, he seems more control of his nerves, whilst Manny has got to move his legs, arms etc because the adrenalin is making him do that. Manny could be in a position where he feels like he's done 10 rounds before he's done one round because at the moment by what I saw he's not controlling the nerves as good as Floyd is.

    What are your thoughts?

Manny didn't look nervous at all to me. Floyd looked a little nervous. It won't matter anyway.

I think it doesn't matter how a fighter looks at the weigh in. I think this has been proven a million times but it just doesn't matter, there are always people on the forum bleating about how a given guy looked at the weigh in.

Happy? Yes. Confident? Yes. Calm? Not for me. I don't think Manny looked calm at all. I thought he was trying to act calm, but his actions were telling me otherwise. He couldn't stop moving, even at the face-off he had to keep moving his legs. That's adrenalin rush. It affects people in different ways and at the moment to me it looks like Manny's adrenalin is wasting him energy.

I'm sure they are both pretty nervous going into an event this big. I thought floyd being more quiet was explained by him not having to work very hard to sell the fight. I think floyd is totally respecting the moment, it's the opposite of what I expected coming in.

when they turned to face the audience, pacquiao raised his arms and exhorted the crowd. was that out of character for him?

It does matter. Weigh-in's indicate weight, which matters, because it lets you know how hard a boxer has trained. Also the mental side of boxing is very important. Sometimes no matter how hard you tried, your true emotions show up closer to the fight. For instance Ricky Hatton against Floyd. Ricky was very confident at the weigh-in, but he showed that the adrenalin got to him. Manny is not scared of Floyd, that's not the kind of nerves I'm talking about, I'm talking about the kind of nerves that burns your energy before the fight even begins, and I believe I saw that with Manny. He can't stop moving. I bet he's punching the air shadow boxing as I'm typing this. He believes he can beat Floyd and he can't wait for the fight, but at the same time he is wasting energy.

Manny looked kinda embarrassed and bashful ... a bit uncomfortable .. but I think that's because he thinks stare-downs are silly rather than any fear of Floyd or the occasion. Manny strikes me as a big kid.

Couldn't really call it a staredown, Manny was wiggling and giggling too much, I do believe that's called nerves, definitely more nervous than Floyd

Adrenalin. He has to do something, it's the adrenalin making him move. If Pacquiao didn't do that, then he would of done something else as long as he kept his body moving. That is a worry to me, because to me it means he hasn't got total control of the nerves that both guys will be having right now. One boxer seems to be handling the nerves better than the other guy at the moment.

Both looked nervous and i cant blame either of them for it. Floyd infact is like a different person and Manny is trying hard to act like it is no big deal. No doubt both are fully aware of the magnitude of this thing and they are the right in the centre.

The nerves will carry over till fight time, prob even get worse but within the 1st minute of the 1st round these 2 ultra experienced fighters will have zoned in on the task in hand and nothing else.

This is your admission that Floyd won the staredown, round 1 already in the bank

This. I agree Manny is very childlike. I think that is a big reason he was able to get iver his KO loss so easily. He us an optimist and his demeanor is always hakuna matata
