Apologies if this thread has been done to death, but i'm new here so i want to share my thoughts.

Everyone says Manny Pacquiao is the p4p champion. But look at his last 5 fights - DLH - totally shot and severely weight drained = effectively a walking corpse. David Diaz - a bum, the softest LW "champion" by a long way, JMM - forget the judges Marquez won the fight, Barerra - good win, Morales - totally shot.

Now take a look at Marquez' last few fights - Casamayor - perhaps the toughest test at LW Marquez becomes first to stop him, Pacquiao - fantastic win for Marquez, Barerra - good win, Juarez - decent win.

Now consider that Pacman is chasing a fight with Hatton - a guy who has looked less than stellar since stopping Tszyu - he was wobbled and troubled by light hitting Lazcano, really lost to Collazo, ran away from Urango, couldnt put Paulie away even though Paulie literally couldnt hurt him.

While Manny chases the poor Hatton, Marquez has now gone after another elite fighter in Juan Diaz.

To me there is no debate. Juan Manuel Marquez deserves to be the p4p number one. The only way i can see Manny becoming legit p4p king is if he fights and beats Mayweather or if he beats Marquez before Marquez gets any older. Chasing big money fights against weak opposition does not a p4p king make.

That logic just doesnt work. Even if you think Marquez beat Pacquiao, which a case can definitely be made, it was far from convincing. Since that fight he has beaten a past-it Casamayor, while Pac has beaten Diaz and a past-it DLH. If you're going to say Pac needs to beat Marquez convincingly to be P4P number 1, then wouldn't Marquez have to do the same to Pac in order to get it? It was far from convincing either way, highly debatable. The difference is Pac was ranked higher before that fight (number 2), and has done more since, therefore he is number 1.

i won't dispute your claims on pacquiao's resume because it's pretty obvious that you don't like him and it's kinda useless arguing with you on that aspect since everyone knows already the real score and has given due credit to pacman's accomplishments..

but, as to your claims on JMM's resume, let me enlighten you with a few points.

JMM won over a shot casa, lost to pacquiao(it could've gone either way so no use arguing over it), won over an obviously past prime barrera(though i thought barrera won), and won over a decent fighter in juarez..

and true enough, we indeed got ourselves a new hater in you.lol but what the heck, welcome to esb just the same(that's if you're really new which i doubt)

QFT. Couldn't have said it better.

Now I like both fighters. I like Manny's exciting and aggressive style while also appreciating JMM's sweet technique. But Manny is undisputed number 1.

Regarding their rematch, Pac did enough to get the win and I will admit that JMM did too. However "controversial" his win over JMM was, Manny got the decision. That's boxing. Deal with it. Had it gone the other way, I wouldn't have any compunction giving JMM credit. Both fighters deserve props for that exciting boxing match.
