Why not? Juan didn't fight, look or operate like a FORTY year old knuckle head so why would his age remove him from being able to put on a FOTY type of performance. You can question anything you want....You can questions Floyd's win over Cotto since he's had 3 positive tests...or the fact that he's ducked the man who got KO'd by the man who's opposition you are questioning.:rofl Nice try buddy.
Floyd hasn't fought half the level of opposition PAC has buddy. Can't even give you any props for that effort.:-( Oh...do a little homework on the greats who have been KO'd before in their careers. Most of them have been slept in the span of their careers...PAC is no different. You step up against the best and sometimes you win...sometimes you lose.:yep
BLAH BLAH BLAH ... BUHH DEEEEEE. Your boy got Tsunami KTFO by an old man. When you're the best, you don't lose PERIOD.
My original point stands. Manny is by far Marquez's best win. Marquez has been down against him 5 times and it took him 4 tries to get the job done. If manny is just a glorified brawler, what does that say about Marquez?
And what opposition is this. A 39, 40 yeard old, Marquez who schooled him and knocked him out a year later. A career 140lber Bradely who decisioned him. The walking punching bag Margacheato. Dead Man walking DLH????
The general consensus going into the DLH fight was that DLH cherry picked pacquiao not the other way around. DLH was trying to end his career with a big name by calling out a guy who moved up 2 weight classes to fight him. he figured he'd stomp out the little dude and go out on a win. It was Oscar who made that fight, not manny,
Go back and read my OP. I didn't say Manny was simply a glorified brawler. I just said that he wasn't quite elite. He gotten by a lot because of his heart, toughness and tremendous physical gifts. Marquez has basically no physical advantages over Pac but he was able to beat him and KO him because he is a more skilled, more intelligent fighter.
AHAHA! I love this response. Can't wait to see JMM vs PAC V....Mexico City anyone?:bbb Maybe Philippines?
Come on man, don't be so one sided. Marquez schooled him a year ago? Then why didnt you mention that Pacquiao schooled an undefeated world champion in Bradley? Not saying that he's faced the greatest ever, but still, just didn't like how one sided it was.
JMM never schooled PAC. All their fights have been hella close and very competitive. The KO was a finite way to conclude the 4th meeting between the two but Juan was losing that fight and getting brutally beat up before finding the resolve to pull out the win with that incredible counter right. We all know what really happened in the Bradley fight and Tim didn't really win. Margarito may have been a walking punching bag when it came to Manny but that punching bag punched back...HARD. DLH was a dead man walking after PAC put an ass whoopin on him from the sound of the first bell. Floyd has a very good resume which is highlighted by being undefeated....but there's NO ONE who would ever say his resume stacks up to Manny's in terms of breadth and depth.
You better check boxrec, Tim Bradley REALLY did win just like JMM REALLY did lose to Pac in their 3rd fight.
You're right, he did add a new wrinkle. I was thinking during the fight, "maybe I have been underestimating Pacquiao's ring intelligence, and ability to adjust". After the fight, I'm not sure whether or not Pacquiao's adjustment meant anything, as it seems as though Marquez's strategy was to allow Pacquiao to get comfortable while teeing off on him, then time the perfect shot.
Oh...I know what boxrec has....It also shows JCC as beating Whitaker and Joel Casamayor as beating Santa Cruz. Robberies happen sometimes in this sport in case you didn't know. PAC was luck to have gotten that win over Juan last time but it was a close and not a robbery like the pac vs Tim fight.
