This content is protected is one of the better flyweights in History. Pacman was just a Teenage greenhorn fighting for the title. He was way behind on points but showed heart of a champion and lethal power by knocking This content is protected out. I think this is a very underrated win over a much more experienced great flyweight. For Pacman to record great wins from Flyweight all the way through Welterweight, is truelly amazing. He is building himself quite the legacy. * That turkey in the other thread tried to came how Pac never beat top fighters in there prime Pac beat alot of top guys like Marco Antonio Barrera 2003- Dominating one sided Knockout Juan Manuel Marques- ATG top 5 p4p, first fight should have been stopped in the first round! Chatchai Sasakul- Maybe top 15 flyweight of all time Then you have lehlogonolo ledwaba 33-1 IBF Bantam Weight champion, 29 Year old Oscar Larios who went on to become WBC featherweight Champion, 33-0 Jorge Solis who is fighting for IBF superfeatherweight title soon and has not lost since, and most of the undefeated rated fighters Pac beat at flyweight were all big punchers like Seung Kon Chae and Nedal Hussein. Throw in his win over WBC lightweight champion David Diaz, and His knockout victory over Eric Morales(who was a very live dangerous fighter in the first two fights and was NEVER knocked out before) And to think, hes only 30...has 4-5 good years left of picking up top wins
hmm says... Solis was a top contender as well but it's normal for previous wins, especially big wins, to overshadow past merits, especially those not in the U.S.
I doubt it, fighters with Pac's style have a tendency to turn old over night. However, even if pac loses to Hatton(which I think he will) it will be interesting to see how pac fares against Bradly, Holt, and Torres.
Sasakul was a very skilled and top notch fighter...Manny was not even a household name at the time... the fight ruined Sasakul's career..i think he could have defended his title at least five or more times at that point....
No. Again, Sasakul was by no means a "great flyweight". He was a very good one, and a very skilled technician. The best of the time outside of Too Sharp, but you're vastly overrating him due to your lack of knowledge of the lower weights. Anyways, it was definitely a gutsy win, but I consider it more of a hiccough by Sasakul than a great win by Pacquiao. He was dominating, got careless, started cruising, and got caught down the stretch. A win is a win, but under the circumstances, and given Pac's lack of success in subsequent matchups at the weight, I think this win gets more overrated by his supporters than anything, as they believe it entitles them to give him credit for being the best from Flyweight on, which is total bull****. He was FAR from his prime or being any sort of elite fighter at Flyweight. His best win, despite Barrera's condition at the time. An ATG to whom? He was also not top 5 P4P during their first fight, and your second statement is outright bull****, and was proven to be so during the rest of the fight when Marquez boxed his ears off. No. Just, no. None of those are anything more than decent, second tier wins on the resume of an ATG. They don't add anything to his legacy. Diaz was ****. Morales was beaten in the rematches after handily schooling Pac (post-Barrera Pac at that) in the first fight (by which time he was already on the decline). He was still live (barely) for the rematch, but for the final fight was a shell of his former self. I doubt that, given the way he's straining his body. But, regardless of my criticisms, he's already carved out an ATG career which is still growing.
