How many times did he lose to Marquez? Be honest. You tell me as I reckon he won at least one more but got ripped off. Some reckon he won the first one. I wouldn't know as I haven't watched that fight in full. There's way too many fights to watch it's impossible or re-watch them.

He lost to Bradley. He lost to Horn. By the smallest of margins when I watched them both live I was very confident that he would lose. Just as I predicted Marquez would win the one where he finally knocked him the **** out. But i've been wrong many a time too. It goes both ways.

2 early losses on in his career and yes he evolved and became great. I think he was a protected species though and he also got the nod in fights that he should have been given The L.

Let me be more clear. When I say overrated, he shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Mayweather. Mayweather beat him, and finished without an L next to his name. Many say Castillo beat him again I'll have to watch that before I can comment. Regardless, Floyd didn't go on too long and was a smart businessman in that he quit when it was time. He left on top of the game and the world and went out in good condition.

Pac had some big wins in destroying Mosely and Hatton ( as Floyd did before Pacman ) but did beat a prime Miguel Cotto or close to it. Pacman lost to Ugas too but prime or not a loss is a loss and that's his doing. His choice. If he decided to write himself off so be it. Mayweather was smart in that he finished and left his career on a good note. He didn't self sabotage it.

Pacman was a great fighter. Higher than most. He lost 8 times, drew twice and possibly lost more than what his record suggests. If he gets a couple more L's next to his name vs Marquez, he doesn't get all the props he gets now.

A great fighter. But nowhere near Mayweathers ceiling.

    Not even close.

It seems your main (and maybe only) argument is that Pacquiao has 8 losses.

My goat has 44 losses so that isn't very compelling to me lol.

I will agree that some people on this forum overrate Pacquiao but I think most people here rate him fairly.

    4. He lost 4 times IMO to JMM - but that still leaves a lot of daylight for him to be a bona fide ATG, not overrated in the slightest. What he did, from where he started, without (initially, really until linking up with Roach) any worthwhile training/sparring/promotional backing - is nothing short of remarkable.

Just because I have him suffering a clean career sweep at Dinamita's hands doesn't meant I'll suffer fools calling Pac overrated. :nono: The one thing has naught to do with the other. JMM's legacy kind of depends on being Pac's kryptonite. Pac's legacy is intact perfectly fine with the KO loss and would be fine without the wins or draw.

    He's definitely overrated.

He came into stardom by beating an aging Barrera.

He then gets a draw against Marquez and if not for the three KDs in the 1st round He would have lost 111-117.

He then goes on to lose to a nearly shot, arguably shot Morales.

His stint between 135-140 andn154 are as if not more ridiculous.

He fights the very weakest LW titlist in David Diaz who had just arguably lost to the same shot Morales Pacquiao beat twice.. instead of fighting the real LW champions.

I won't hold the Hatton fight too much against him because despite having his chin completely decimated by fragile Knuckle Mayweather, Hatton was the man at 140.

At 147 he had a decent run in a weak division. Unfortunately for him he avoided random testing like it was the black plague. Freddie Roach confessing that Pacquiao was drinking magic shakes, insinuating that Ariza was pumping Pacquiao full with PEDs.

Anyone with a brain knows its not a good look. Add that he didn't lose power or speed.. things that make you go hmm...

His 154 title was beyond ridiculous. He beat a shot to bits weight drained Margarito, at a catchweight. Margarito wasn't even ranked, and aside his stay bust fight against low caliber journeyman was coming off a brutal loss.

So yeah, Pacquiao is a top fighter, possibly ATG, but his career was no doubt carefully orchestrated by Arum. There's a reason why he's one of the very few modern boxers to stay as an employee to a promotional company even after he became bigger than life.

I don't really have lists, but I would rate Manny Pacquiao within the top 30 pound per pound boxers of all time, along with Floyd Mayweather although I rate Floyd a bit higher than Manny. Is that overrated?

Overrated? Somewhat. Especially by people that have him over Mayweather. I also agree that he lost every fight to Marquez, but the first two fights were really close so they weren't robberies. He is an atg, but I remember people comparing him to Duran and Armstrong that's when you know he's overrated.

At least when Manny Pacquiao had people comparing him with the all-time greats, he could fight like all get out and was extremely great. A real actual all-time great.

There's not many fighters around today with that sort of lightning fast, savage pinpoint Precision Power that Manny Pacquiao had, maybe the closest lately is Inoue?

I'd say Mayweather is more overrated. He had the reach advantage in almost all his fights and never dared to fight actual huge fighters that have multiple inches of reach and height on him after he moved up to welterweight. It didn't help the era they were in was full of blown up fake welterweight and short 154lbers

It's like being a 5'10 basketball player and having only played against shorter players

No doubt Mayweather is the greater of the two - Manny Pacquiao was an explosive force, an extremely fast deadly accurate killer punching machine with loads of stamina, heart & will.

But Floyd was a bona fide boxing master, fighting much like the old time super slick Fighters that are on average much greater than anything we have today.

You're right, I only read the opening paragraph since I consider myself a Pacquiao expert.

Dude however I may feel about Manny Floyd and Marquez when it comes to hgh/steroids, you have to be a fool to call either of them overrated. I don’t even need to list their accolades since you have to be trolling.
