The other thread was good but neither guy would beat any of the true greats at welterweight considering they both started far down the scales. They were at their best at their weight so this is a more even playing field imo.

Mayweather....he'd lose to Whitaker, possibly Pryor, and maybe a prime Duran, Henry Armstrong

Pacquiao-Duran, Arguello, Pryor, Ike Williams, JC CHAVEZ and Henry Armstrong

    More defeat Pacquiao than Mayweather.

Mayweather can give a good account of himself vs anyone in that weight range I feel, he loses to a few of them tho.

Pacquiao loses to a lot of them.

Whitaker Floyd would be an incredibly good technical fight. Prior would be very interesting.
Love to see Manny vs Arguello or even Williams or Ike

Mayweather: Roberto Duran, Pernell Whitaker, Julio Cesar Chavez, Aaron Pryor, Carlos Ortiz, Duilio Loi, Jose Napoles, Rodolfo Gonzalez, Jimmy Carter, Bob Montgomery, Ike Williams (though he'd probably win 1 in a series against those last 3 due to styles), Ken Buchanan, Ismael Laguna, Eddie Perkins, Oscar De La Hoya, Esteban De Jesus, etc.

Pacquiao: Add in Azumah Nelson, Hector Camacho, Tony Canzoneri, Barney Ross, Beau Jack, Alexis Arguello, and perhaps Nicolino Locche. Then again I could see Pacquiao doing better against some of the guys I'd favor over Floyd.

Antonio Cervantes may also be worth a call on either. Most of these guys I'd favor, but some would be close calls, about 50/50.

    Duran, Chavez, Whitaker.

Those 3 beat them both at those weights IMO.

Mayweather V Whitaker would not be the most explosive fight, but it would be one of the greatest boxing fights from a technical point of view. I don't see either Pacquiao or Mayweather getting destroyed, they are the best of this generation and I strongly believe they both could have held their own against the legends of the past.

Mayweather would outclass Rodolpho Gonzalez who was a bit stiff good puncher with skills....also Jimmy Carter, Eddie perkins were inconsistent in their careers...De Jesus was very good but IMO mAYWEather outboxes him, also Mayweather hit and harder and slicker than Buchanan no way he beats May.

pac-Man beats slow of foot Nelson and possibly Beau Jack but the others were spot on:good

The joke is when people compare any of these guys to Ray Robinson. I know he is usually ranked number 1 AT P4P..but I have to say I think he is UNDERRATED. Yup underrated :)

    Consider:

in 197 profesional fights he was only stopped once, and that was a light heavyweight, because of heat-stroke, in a fight he was winning. 197 fights against numerous Hall of famers and only stopped once....30lbs above his best, at an old age and in a fight he was winning, and not by a punch. That alone is unbelievable. Chavez is considered to have an iron-chin and he got stopped repeatedly s he got older, and while still in his basic weight class. Top five chin in history. Possibly no 1 chin.

Robinson had genuine KO power in both hands: His famous left hook against Fulmer is sick, keep in mind Fulmer was only stopped once in 60 other professional fights--he retired in the 7th in his last fight against Dick Tiger. Fullmer had an amazing chin, fought Tiger 3x, giardelo, Basillio, Paret just to name a few--and was never knocked out except against Robinson who knocked him senseless with one punch. Robinsons right hand against Graziano is an example of his other side.

Speed: Again his left hook against Fullmer is barely visible even on replay. his speed of foot was notable as well--his ability to stay away from hard driving rugged guys like Lamotta.

Record: 176 professional wins. At one point he was 128-1 with 2 draws. That is crazy---128-1?? !! This was not record compiled in 1896 either. It was against great fighters in a great era in a weight zone filled with talent. The number of great HOF guys he beat is incredible: Armstrong, Lamotta 5x, Zivic 2x, Angot, Olson 4x, Gavilan 2x, Fullmer, Graziano, to say nothing of the many high quality guys like Shapiro, Servo, Levine, Turpin etc... it is a sick list and many of the names were well into Robinsons late 30s in his second career. His bet years, i am told were mostly not filmed.

    An unparalleled fighter.

Well said, in 20 years time they will be even better. For some reason over time, fighters get better when fans look back on them.

Mayweather would make Duran look silly. There is absolutely no doubt about this. The fact of the matter is... We will never know.
