Manny Pacquiao can withstand Ricky Hatton's Power Punches?

Since when did Ricky become a 'power puncher'? Who has he KO'd with head punches? Carlos Maussa? He has a vicious left hook to he body, yes. But how many times has he managed to land that with KO effect? He didn't manage a decisive KO of Mallinaggi. Manny is a versatile guy and wont have trouble dealing with Hatton's one or two offensive tricks. Most likely he will stunt Hattons ofence early on with all the multiple flush lefts he will be landing.

 

Those were ineffective punches. DLH didnt have the distance to put power in his punches as he was to close to Pac.

 

I totally agree with this thread. Pac has the power & skill to hurt Hatton but I think Hatton will Knock him out similar to how he did Castillo. Mark my words.

 

That vid really doesn't prove anything.. that 1st hook wasn't too powerful and was still able to knock Pac back, and the rest of the blows were just plain weak.

I'll give you this, Pac has shown the ability to take a great punch over the past few years... and yes, I do think he could a few good flush shots from Hatton, but Ricky is a prety good puncher at 140 so he'd better not get too cocky and show some defense if they ever meet up in the ring.

 

Not only that , but I think that people are not putting any credence to what physical strenghth can play in this fight.
I'm guaging that physically, Hatton is much stronger than is Pacquiao!

 

hatton is stronger, but a for some reason alot of peeps on this site make out hatton to be a big banger and he is not, he punches hard consistantly which can take its toll as a fight goes on but he is not a pure ko puncher that for sure (apart from the perfect timed pucnh to the head - bodey)
so i can see pac man easily standing at the end of this fight, but who gets the nod im a little unsure

 

Hatton does have one punch KO power especially against a smaller opponent & especially to the body. Its a question of can he land the shots/can pacquiao stop him for 12 rounds. The fight could definately go either way. I'm going for Hatton because I believe he'll be on form & his heart, determination, constant pressure & strength will be a step too far for little Pac.

If Hatton can hit Pac with full force he can hurt him.

Lets not forget Oscar Larios hurt Pacquaio badly and so to did JMM in their second fight.

If Hatton wins though i think it will be via an accumulation or UD.

I believe this is the key to the fight.

If they were naturally the same size then Pac wins easily but they are not. If Pac can handle Hattons power then he wins, if he cant then he loses.

Like a couple of you have pointed out Ricky is no power puncher at 140. I agree but that is not the point. The point is Pac will be getting hit, and hit far more often than he has done since his 130 days by a natural 140 pounder.

I have said this on here a fews times before that Diaz and DLH barely landed any flush shots on Pac because they were either to slow and just not good enough in Diaz's case or weight drained/shot/what ever you want to call it in Oscars case. Ricky is quick and not well past his best so he will land on Pac and land more often than Diaz and Oscar did. Can Pac take a flush shot of Ricky? Probably. Can he take an accumalation of shots of Ricky? I really don't know.

It's all very well saying Pac fought Diaz at 135 and DLH at 147 and wasn't hurt in the fight but the fact of the matter is he was barely touched in those fights. The truth is that the hardest punchers (or more importantly, the hardest succession of punchers over many rounds) Pac has taken were from a 130lb Barrera, Morrales and Marquez. Now thats an impressive list of three future hall of famers but it was at 130, 10 pounds lower than Hatton, and none of them three were power punchers at that weight.
