Margarito was 165 pounds to Pacquiao's 148 and it was a savage, savage shot. There were TWO of them, actually.

SRL and most guys hung out on the ropes or on the inside. Pacquiao would turn or evade Duran. Pacquiao is one of the hardest guys to pin down and corner.

Pacquiao's not an inside fighter, but people pay when they pressure him. I'm just saying that it's not a weakness.

Duran with today's roids would be a monster.

Other than the 1st DeJesus fight, which he commandingly avenged twice, Duran only lost to guys that were noticeable bigger, slicker (or both) than he was. Simply put, Manny is neither. And Duran was past prime when he started losing. Before No Mas, Duran was 72-1. His peak was between DeJesus 3 and Leonard 1, which means Manny would be getting him at the end of his prime. I give Manny a slight advantage in handspeed and that's it. Montreal Duran was a beast whose defense was almost as good as his offense. Any version of Manny gets walloped by that Duran.

Duran is a better and more skilled fighter than Pacquiao. But if Duran employs the wrong strategy he could lose, possibly even get knocked out.

Pressuring Pacquiao is a bad idea. You don't do it.

Pacquiao has the advantage in hand and foot speed. He is arguably the highest stamina fighter in boxing history. He has more power if we're talking lower weight classes p4p, but Duran being the bigger man may negate that.

Does anyone think it would be similar to the Pacquaio and Marquez fights? I can imagine Duran counter punching Pac as he comes in.

Everyone out there that said Pac: keep in mind that the thread is about Montreal Duran. If Leonard couldn't beat Duran, Manny Pac most certainly is not. This discussion isn't about the above 147 fat, past his best version of Duran.

Besides the atg at 154 Tommy Hearns that knocked out 154 pound Duran, who else knocked him out? Pac is not knocking Duran out, no way, no how.

I wish boxing fans would not use these kind of examples. a shot out of shape duran at the end of his career being knocked hearns, Micheal spinks beating Ali, Marciano beating ezzard charles. Catch a guy after he has fought 20 years and use the last fights oh his career as example. Please dont do it. In their prime they would wipe the floor with these guys. Thanks for your cooperation.

We are all entitled to our opinion but I think that any version of Duran loses to Hearns. Simply a terrible matchup for him. Also I think you mean Leon Spinks, not Michael Spinks.

He probably doesnt, but if Duran decides to pressure Pacquiao he may get knocked out. Its been established through Pacquiaos career that you do not pressure Pacquiao. It doesn't work. And I have a feeling Duran might act a little too macho for his own good and decide to pressure Pacquiao.

What if Duran decides to pressure Pac? Manny has the edge in speed, workrate and power. Should they go toe to toe that would become apparent.

I happen to agree with you. You did read my post where I wrote Duran was fat and past prime at 154, didn't you? Thank you for your cooperation.

I don't know if Manny has the edge in power. But even if he does, it's not much. At 147, where this mythical matchup takes place, Manny's not known as a ko artist like at feather. Plus, his chin does not compare with Duran's, not even close. Added to the fact that Duran is a far superior defensive fighter than Pac and has a much higher boxing IQ, Montreal Duran takes this convincingly. Btw, what performances by Cholo and Pac at 147 indicate that Manny could knock Roberto out?
