Just about everyone that mentions Pacquiao's supposed "money problems" seems to have the same goal:

    A Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.

Now, some writers are a bit better at keeping that intent to themselves. But our friend from Bleacher Report here couldn't be clearer.

My guess is that these writers are trying to "force" Pacquiao to have to fight Mayweather, because -- supposedly -- Pacquiao "desperately" needs the money that only a Mayweather fight can bring.

Unsurprisingly, these writers all seem to be Mayweather fans.

I guess they're not confident that the fight will come off unless they make it seem like Pacquiao is hard-up for cash. Maybe they think Mayweather needs the fight more than Pacquiao? Not sure.

I may have missed something, but isn't Pacquiao guaranteed $20 million-plus for the Marquez fight?

And, is it particularly surprising that Vision Qwest is suing Pacquiao after Pacquiao apparently fired them? They seem to be claiming he owes them a certain amount of money, but I'm not sure Pacquiao -- and his lawyers -- agree with that apparent claim. The story seemed to be that Pacquiao supposedly felt VQ overstepped their bounds, or something along those lines. As in, possibly breached their contract and/or potentially got Manny to agree to something he didn't want to agree to or that he didn't understand he was agreeing to. If that's the case, then VQ could get hit with a counter-suit by Pacquiao.

The people bringing up VisionQwest seem to be the same people who were hoping that Bob Arum was going to get pushed out of Team Pac. Didn't happen. Just like Koncz getting fired didn't happen. Etc, etc.

So, the VisionQwest suit may be these people's last, desperate hope on trying to "take Pac down," or whatever.

    Good luck with that.

And, also: Good luck with getting the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight made if Pac and/or Arum decide they don't want to make it. Not to mention Floyd's position.

Oh, well. I guess you have to work with what you have, which isn't always the same as what you thought you had, or what you hoped to have.

Manny's "broke" is different from our broke. Plus he more fights in him so he'll make money. The problem is he isnt a great decision maker when it comes to business. This is a guy who signed a contract with Top Rank & Golden Boy when they were courting him

Motown is the worst in the country when it comes to violent crime, with an annual rate of 1,251 crimes for every 100,000 residents. Unemployment in the area is below the double-digit rates it hit in the early 1990s, but at 8.5% over the past three years, it is still the second-highest in the country among the 150 largest metro areas.

Rated slightly below, meaning it's about the same level (0.638-0.654).

But going back to the original argument, as you have put it, no, the Philippines is not 3rd world as you originally claim.
