Sergio moves up from JrMW to MW to look for more lucrative fights but continues to maintain he is not a legit filled out MW and could move back down to jrMW (without hesitation) at any time and has always left that option open as he is a two division active fighter if a big fight came up.

Pac and Floyd. Both have won titles at jrMW so they have swam in that water so they should both be in play.

But Pac is to small for Sergio: Not really. According to some fans, Size doesn't matter and this will be held at jrMW and not MW.
Remember, Pac destroyed the much bigger Margarito to win the jrMW title...who I am constantly reminded of that "it was Margarito who destroyed Sergio Martinez and if Margarito can do it, imagine what Pac will do"

Floyd: Fighting Sergio would be a Huge Fight and would be a better notch on his resume than Cotto.

So, fight at 154 (no catch-weights)...what happens?

    2013 before Summer.

pacquiao isn't going to fight Sex Bomb Sergio. His style is all wrong for emmanuel.

Since they're both southpaws, this opens up even more angles for Sexy to use his best punch, the right jab. Sergio rides bikes literally, and by now if you don't know emmanuel can't cut off a ring for ****, you haven't been paying attention. It's expected he'll keep emmanuel back with his jab. The classic "stick-n-move".

We're talking about an AZZ beating on the proportion of Mayweather-Juan but probably even harder since Martinez can drop the hook to stop emmanuel.

First thing that comes to mind for a Floyd-Sexy fight is this:

    This content is protected

During the HBO broadcast, expert trainer Steward mentioned early how Macklin's hand placement was doing a great job at protecting himself from Mart's left.

    This content is protected

Barker threw jabs that he had no intention of landing to set up all kinds of rights to the body of Martinez. Floyd showed that he's fully able to do that too in the Zab fight, but he's also able to feint to have someone compromise their position to set up that punch

The important part of that gif is how Floyd moved his right foot as he threw the punch to bob and weave his way out of return fire. Macklin didn't have the footwork and slickness to do that.

Once the threat to the body is established and Mart is worried about being hit there, Floyd can begin to unleash lead str8 rights to the head. Sexy's tendency as a southpaw who keeps his hands low isn't going to do him favors against someone who can throw a short lead right like a jab. Getting Sergio worried about whether the right will come up high or from down under will make it even easier to land rights on him.

Sergio's low return rest position for his lead hand after he jabs allows opponents to counter his jab with their own. Floyd should take advantage of this using his longer arms. Floyd's 26" arms vs Sergio's 24".

Use some rangefinder jabs too in order to occupy Sexy's mind and set up rights.

    Mayweather by 8-4

Floyd might fight him as Floyd fights high ranked opponents who are either in the top 3 in the division and/or top 10 in the world. Manny would not dare touch this fight.

Martinez called Manny's bluff already when Manny said they could do it at a CW of 150, Sergio said ok, and Manny hid behind "talk to my promoter" and "147 now, not 150."

    :deal

Floyd would make Sergio pay for dropping his hands to. Sergio also doesn't use his size in his fights so that would be an almost non factor. Sergio does not fight on the inside nor push his opponent around on the inside very much as it isn't part of his fight game.

I like the score to. 8-4.

Even if Floyd did take this fight, it would be the same as what they said about Shane. Sergio is #3 pound for pound in the world (just like Shane was) and would be 38 (just like Shane was), so even if he fought him and beat him (which I hope the fight happens) he would still not get due credit.

Good points. Plus Macklins biggest flaw in the fight was his stamina. He couldn't keep up with the high energy chess match. And when Sergio turned it up, he couldn't keep up cause he was gassed.

I used to think Floyd would win quite comfortably, but Judah of all people were pot shooting on Floyd, and then Judah gassed out and Floyd took over late. Floyd is too defensive and Martinez is too active. Even if Floyd kept a high guard instead, he doesn't have the jab or the leg movement to cut off the ring or set his traps.

If they fight early next year, I'm taking Sergio based on what I've seen recently via doing more work and landing effectively.

Dont put Pacquiao in anything Bro! He will nt fight anybody thats any good and wont move up in weight. Boxing is past him and hes old news. He fought Magarito who is a punching bag and was weight drained. pac would demand Martinez to come to WW hahahaha.

As for Floyd, who doesnt fight catch weight fights, would be awesome. Martinez would have to keep his hands up or would eat straight rights all night. I think martinez would get worked and wouldnt alot of rounds but put up a good fight

But Martinez, as has been noted, is most active when being pressed all the time. His activity takes a severe drop when he has to take a bulk of the offensive duties in the ring. Mayweather wouldn't follow him, he'd work within Sergio's steps. No one at MW has been able to do that, and it's because most aren't coordinated enough to. It would be an interesting stylistic match-up, but I don't ever see the fight happening.

He does his best work when getting pressed, most certainly. But he is also pretty active with his jabs/lead lefts when out of range, even range finder type shots. Shame we'll never see it. Would love it at 154.

Dude just shut up. Martinex hands down would eat punches all night. He will land a few straight lefts here and there but were talking about a top 5 defeisve fighter of all time in Floyd. Could even make martinez look silly
