Getting away from the nasty PED battle that has emerged with regards to this fight, lets get back to actual fight talk.

I took the following screenshots from the pacquiao cotto fight due to the myth that is being spread on this forum that pacquiao has average defence. Here are a few rounds for ESB'ers to ponder. And its not like pacquiao landed a higher percentage of punches because cotto was beaten up later in the fight, manny was landing and avoiding at a very good rate early in the fight as shown below. If anything he got more reckless towards the end of the fight.

Now lets address another issue. How does manny avoid so many blows particulary with his fighting style. The key is how he uses his feet. His feet are used simultaneously for offence and defence. As pointed out by many previous opponents manny can be in two places at once in that ring which makes him difficult to defend against but also difficult to hit.

I will state this again. Floyds defence will be tested in the early rounds against pacquiao, can floyd get through the test without too much damage as to hinder his ability to inevitably work pacquiao out in the rest of the fight.

Cotto wasted a lot of punches trying to flatten Pac through his guard, thinking that he could overwhelm Pac with power. This is a testament to how one-dimensional Cotto was in this fight.

In the Marquez fight, Pac's last fight against a very good technical boxer, Marquez's connect percentage was in the mid to high 30s for most of the fight.

    Er, what myth?

As the poll above indicates, the majority voted for his defence being 'good', not average. Sure, some people voted for average, but they made up 23%. I doubt the result would change much if I bumped the thread, either.

Pacquiao doesn't have a bad defence overall, he just happens to have an average defence in comparison to Mayweather, that's all.

Compared to most fighters, Pacman has a very decent defence. Compared to Floyd well that's another story...

Damn i didnt see that thread lately, i checked it when it was newly posted, my bad. Still, 23% is far too many people thinking mannys defence is average. His defence is good to excellent but taking into account his style i'd take it up a notch, but still no defensive wizard obviously.

Well, Judah is not considered a defensive fighter, yet his speed, aggressiveness, and power did more than just have Floyd on his backfoot. Judah didn't even bother to try and box with Floyd in the center of the ring he just took it right to him and he actually got the better of Floyd despite the knockdown not being counted in favor of Judah. It was when Floyd was coming in that Judah caught him with a right hook. It was when Judah began to slow down in the middle rounds that Floyd saw his opportunity to capitalize and take advantage.

Manny has become quite the counterpuncher himself and even though he isn't as slick as Floyd, he doesn't have to be. One thing many people never talk about here is how Manny is great at feinting and lateral movement. The feinting would make Floyd work overtime, make him believe Manny is coming in, and counter or leave himself out of position or open on Manny. I do think Floyd might be alittle faster, but he's going to be pretty tense in there knowing even if he catches Manny flush, Manny's coming back with 3-4 shots. I won't be surprised if there are knockdowns on both sides, but the fight goes the distance.

They should get this fight on already. Manny foot and hand speed vs PBF's reflexes and reaction times. No doubt we will see a ridiculous amount of speed in the ring.
