At the very least, I believe Miguel Cotto vs Manny Pacquiao is a fight that could happen, and in the benefit of Pacquiao's legacy, should happen.

Imagine Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto at 140lb? Given how vunerable Miguel's punch resistance seemed at that weight, I'd probably expect the Manny of May 2nd to have stopped 140lb Cotto.

Should a fight at catch weight be consider ludicrous?

I hope my opening post has put this thread into perspective.

Manny Pacquiao has been taking on gigantic challenges as of late, so I don't see why he would stop now?

I think he should challenge the winner of Miguel Cotto vs Joshua Clottey. Clottey wouldn't bring enough to the table you'd suspect, so it would only happen if Miguel won that fight.

I think it makes money sense for both fighters, HBO, and is a winnable fight for Manny.

Perhaps its not ludicrous now but be honest just a year ago we would have been thrown into an insane asylum for even suggesting a fight between Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto at 140 was possible.

I still think Cotto would be too much for Pac but at 140 I still have memories of Cotto unwisely opening up to trade with Torres. I'm very confused as who would win that fight

Not only against Torres was Cotto on ***** street, who is a genuine puncher at 140lb, but the light hitting Corley had Cotto on unsteady legs also.

I would like to clarify, I would make Miguel Cotto the favorite if he was to ever square off with Pacquiao at any weight above 140lb, but this is no reason to believe it wouldn't be a competitive equation. Manny has already proved me wrong more times than I care to remember, and it would be an exciting fight, both combatants have great fanbases.

I'm not. He wanted video evidence of Manny showing great handspeed a few weeks back.

For me I would favor Cotto more than Pacquiao if they fought. Cotto just need to refine his skills on the one he did against Margarito on the first rounds.
They would go to the distance and since watching most of Cotto's bout he gets tired a bit but not really showing.

Radab, I am not making Manny Pacquiao favorite against any of the top dogs up at 147lb. I'm just discussing whether or not in the context of his already Hall of fame bound legacy, that taking on these challenges would do more good than harm.

If Pacquiao loses to Cotto, he lost to a very good fighter who is naturally bigger than he is. No shame in that. His legacy is secure. If he beats Miguel Cotto, that would be a serious deal.

Pacman would demolish Cotto.. The Pacman of late has evolved into one very adaptive, receptive, smarter, and more powerful Pacman than ever before. Pacman by KO before the 6th.

Cherrypicking must have a different meaning in your dictionary now.

I wanted video evidence of Manny Pacquiao displaying extra-ordinary hand speed in a competitive bout. I still consider his handspeed an overrated aspect of his game, but this is no slight on a tremendous fighter.

Cherry picking or superb match making? Rag on Arum all ya want, but look what he has managed money wise for Pac in his last two fights and made him look like a monster and crowd favorite. Truly brilliant moves.

Manny has a chance against Cotto in 140-143. Manny has faster handspeed.
