For all the accolades and fans he has something left in his career he must do. First of all, the WBOgus belt he has means nothing

( he has won 6 world titles not 7 there are 3 major belts and WBO dont count) considering Mosley is the welterweight champion and Mayweather is the undefeated former champ and arguably the best fighter in the world.

Pacquiao was recognized as the best in the world by default, only because Mayweather retired he didnt do anything to seperate himself from his closest rival in J.M. Marquez. Their is no question Mayweather is the most skilled fighter in the world and MANNY would actually be the underdog, and if he beats Mayweather it significantly raises his legacy and status.

The fact that fraud cant keep Pac out of his mouth when he has a fight with sugar shane coming while Pac doesnt even bother to talk about him clearly shows who needs who.

I think Pacquiao and Mayweather both need eachother. Pacquiao will no doubt enhance his legacy if he beats Mayweather, and vise versa, but since the blood test saga, I believe Pacquiao needs to fight Mayweather and also agree to some kind of blood testing up until an agreed date before the bout. Not because I believe he's using drugs, but to show the public he is fighting clean.

We agree to disagree, but the fact is Mayweather was the pound for pound best in the world before he retired, came back and is still the most skilled fighter in the world, is undefeated , is the biggest money maker in the sport, and is the only fighter in the world who would be favored to beat Manny. In Manny's past few fights he beat a well worn Cotto, barely defeated Marquez who easily could have got the nod himself, I havent been impressed with him since he beat Morales, Barrera and fought a draw with Marquez.

You are right, he doesnt need Mayweather.....to expose him as not being the fighter his ardent fans want him to be which is invincible.:hi:

when you got an ego as big as floyd's you're gonna trash your rival. Either way when the fight happens Im sure Mayweather would win a closely contested fight

What Pac has done is equivalent to Floyd fighting the top cruisers.....Do the math.

Of course Floyd needs Pac more than Pac needs Floyd. Pac's resume is better, contains better names, and he won titles at more weights. As things stand, Pac's legacy is stronger and more watertight to last as the decades roll by. No question about it.

the poll choices aren't complete I think. I think a lot of people feel that even though he initially moved up to #1 P4P by default, his huge wins since moving up to #1 have justified his place there. having said that, a win over Floyd would still be a huge boost to his legacy.

Resume wise, a lot of people agree that Pac trumps Floyd and that's more than enough to justify him being higher than Floyd in the ranking. H2H though, there's really only 1 way to decide...

Manny doesn't need Floyd......if anything Floyd needs PAC...especially if Floyd struggles or looses to Shane. Manny's career is cemented as is and has the best resume in the last 20 years....since Ray Lenoard. He don't need Floyd although it would be a VERY big accomplishment if he won. A win over Floyd would definitly take his legacy to a new level but PAC is already at the highest plateau of the sport as it is right now.
