After the fight, many fans angrily cried excuse after Manny Pacquiao revealed a right shoulder injury, which he said inhibited him from using his right arm effectively in the fight. Pacquiao said it happened around 2 weeks ago. Around this time, news was bubbling out of his camp with news of concern and suspicion. First, Pacquiao skipped training consecutively for an entire week and sparring for two. Roach and team Pacquiao said it was because they didn't want Pacquiao to peak. Sparring partners were then sent home early, around the time the injury was said to happen. No concrete reason was given why other then, "We're done with them." Roach told media he had Pacquiao specifically working on his left hand, solely, and Pacquiao wasn't allowed to use his right. The reason why was because Roach said the left would be more important in the fight. Pacquiao then refrained from shadow-boxing. People in public commented on the matter fews ago, but the theory of why was simply, "He's hiding how fast he is." Then into fight night, Pacquiao puts on one of his worst performances of his career. Did the injury affect your performance? People assumed it was because Pacquiao was afraid to get countered. Pacquiao said it was for a very different reason. Pacquiao continued to say the reason for his low punch output was because of a desperate game-plan he had to use past the fourth round: try and search for a miracle KO punch. Due to an inability to throw many combinations or use his right hand, he said was reduced to how he fought Morales. With only a left-hand, and smiliar to that first fight with Morales, Mayweather was able to keep the jab and counter him. The opportunity to land a KO punch came too late against the best defensive fighter in the world. Pacquiao reiterated how he lost the fight and for people to give Floyd the credit. "I want a rematch if he wants. I wasn’t 100% ready for last night because of this shoulder but I don’t want to use that complaining that I lost the fight. I’m just accepting the fact that I lost." Still, furious fans were angered over why Pacquiao would enter the Fight Of The Century under 100%. "I did not want the fans to be dismayed [to thinking the fight won't happen]. It was so close, three weeks before the fight. Freddie and I talked, Buboy would've cried if I post-poned this [laughs]." Pacquiao said he agreed to not postpone it because he felt "if it heals, it it recovers it should be fine". Pacquiao said he simply wouldn't use his right hand up to the fight, "(Speaking on the plan to go forth with fight) I won't use it as much. Then, on fight night, I'll receive an numbing injection. . . but the problem is, we got sabotaged." Pacquiao was forced to fight without a numbing agent with a severely torn rotator cuff. It wasn't his intention to lie to the fans. He simply believed that everything would be fine as long as he got the numbing injection. But, when it was denied, Pacquiao was caught off guard and realized the situation he was in. As one would say, too late to back out now. It could be seen on Pacquiao's face as he walked into the ring. The man from the night before who was beaming with confidence suddenly appeared stressed and discomforted walking to the ring. The confidence appeared to be gone. At the ring of the bell, Pacquiao immediately looked off. Soon enough, Pacquiao was searching to only land his left hand, after being inhibited to use his right from the severe tear and it's pain. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Recently, news came out that Pacquiao will have intrusive surgery over a severe right shoulder injury after many claimed Pacquiao was using it as an excuse. Michael Koncz said it could sideline Pacquiao for 4-6 months. With the news of Pacquiao inhibition in the fight, casual fans on twitter are now questioning the fight. J Bird: All these Mayweather fans that said Pacquiao was lying about his injury must feel pretty dumb right now... Pac Man is having surgery Skip Bayless [sorry, lol]: So @StephenASmith: Your man Floyd "schooled" a one-armed fighter??? Really impressive. NO WAY HE'D HAVE BEATEN A HEALTHY PACQUIAO. Molly Querin: Now that we know Pacquiao will undergo surgery for a "significant tear" in his shoulder...do you want to see a rematch? Matt Moscona: So Pacquiao was fighting with a torn rotator cuff. That guarantees a post-surgery rematch, right? #tellmewhowins SDCOSTA: Now that we know Pacquiao fought with a torn rotator cuff, we need to see a rematch. CarlL: Why is Cotto worth rematching but Pacquiao is not? Pacquiao did just as well with one arm, & the rematch is bigger. #Rematch #MayPacRematch PB: Mayweather can't make more money fighting any other boxer but Pacquiao...and you all about the money Floyd. #Rematch JoshNelson: This whole Pacquiao shoulder story makes me think we're getting a rematch for Floyd's 50th. Perhaps the $ can coax him out of "retirement". Alvin: @latimespugmire A rematch with a healthy Pacquiao should also be in the conversation. We didn't see him at his best against Floyd. Isaah: Honestly Pacquiao deserves the rematch when he heals.. And Mayweather knows he wants the 50 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ So now, where do we go and what happens from here? At this point, I think we can put to rest the "excuse" claim. There's no denying Pacquiao was just trying to lessen the loss. It's serious enough to where he will get surgery and be forced to heal until most likely early next year. Dan Rafael, who harshly criticized Pacquiao's claim of injury Saturday, turned the tide after speaking to Pacquiao's doctor. Rafael said it's obvious the world did not see the offensive-juggernaut we're used to seeing, and that the doctor explained the injury was very serious. With this said, Rafael conveyed how you just have to accept that it did hinder Pacquiao's performance greatly. Still, a loss is a loss. And though this may put the fight in a different perspective, we still can't discredit Floyd's win. Manny has emphasized that point. However, it does seem the old asterisk returns... even if it only shadows right now. Since it's now proven that Pacquiao was not Pacquiao due to a horrible injury, "Could Pacquiao beat Mayweather?" I still don't think so, but I do think that the world could see a much better fight when Pacquiao is not reduced to perform with one-arm. Still, Floyd Mayweather claims he is retiring in September. Many believe Floyd will come out one last time to beat Marciano's undefeated record of 49-0. And perhaps, Floyd Mayweather will get aggravated enough by his discredited win due to Pacquiao being severely injured, and want to beat him again. There are 150 million+ reasons why. . .
Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, said the shoulder was getting better by the day in training camp. "We thought at one time we'd postpone the fight, but as the weeks went on it was getting better and I was happy with his performance," Roach said. "I thought the progress was good enough."
I was just very surprised as to why Pac didn't throw more. This would explain it, i mean no-one in their right mind ever expected Pac to throw less that Floyd! this was almost inconceivable
Team Mayweather planting a mole and KNOWING about the injury and taking advantage of it... Hmm... they could be just as at fault from a legal standpoint...
