I respect your opinion. No problem. At least pac lost when he was still a "nobody" in boxing! Duran was KO'd cold by Hearns when he was already a "somebody" in boxing! :hey His last lost was with Morales but it was not as ugly as Duran loss to HEARNS. PAC was able to revenge his loss to Morales by winning thier trilogy. Duran did not have the chance to revenge his KO loss to Hearns.
Im a huge Marvin Hagler fan, but without getting a bit sentimental about the good ol days, is Haglers record really that much better than Pac's? I mean peopel would happily compare Hopkins resume to Hagler...and most would acknowledge that Pac is greater than Hopkins. Its not silly to suggest Hagler is top 20 but it is to suggest Pac is. People have been saying Pac is top 50 since his Morales wins....few epic wins later his next fight is still the criteria for making that top 50. lol.
Hagler is not top 20, and neither is Pac. I have them 30 and 33 respectively at the moment (Pac higher). One thing that does effect Pac is a prime loss to an ageing Morales. Hagler never lost on his prime.
If Pac beats Cotto then it will be a tremendous achievement. Although for those talking in histroical terms (as this thread is) it will be one tainted by Cotto having to come down below his belt weight. Even so, unless Pac gets to Cotto real quick and knocks him out before Cotto can get off, then there's no way Pac will win this fight. And even then, as hard as Pac hits he's never been in with a proper welterweight and Cotto has a solid chin - hell look how long he lasted against an oversized rat with cement in his gloves. What is in doubt is Pac's chin and I don't see where this 'Manny's chin is now solid' stuff comes from - especially when he's going up against a tough, rugged, heavy handed welterweight for the first time. The key will be whether Cotto can catch Manny with full weighted shots and if he can, then the first time Cotto lands we'll see that the majority of all the lead up articles and hype will be rendered null and void
Countdown Begins, 4 days from now, Manny Pacquiao would be Top 15 ATG!!! He is nearing Duran and Leonard's legacy
