without delving to much into it are we really going to count margaritos "title" ?

    vacant title fight
fought for a 154 limit at 150 catchweight
against a guy who was coming off a suspension for loading his gloves (Which basically puts an asterisk next to his OK resume)
against a guy who was coming off a vicious beatdown and KO loss

it was all for the glitz and glamour of being the only 8 weight div champ

Pacquiao fought basically the best man in the division except for 135 for their titles. And most of those guys were in their primes or pretty close to it. Who exactly was a better flyweight than Sasakul during Pac's title win? Who was a better Superbantam than Ledwaba when Pac beat him? Who was a better featherweight than Barrera when Pac won? Who was a better superfeather than Marquez when Pac beat him? Who was a better juniorwelter than Hatton when Pac beat him? Who was a better Welter than Cotto when Pac won?

Manny is definitely high up the list of great southpaws, but there's some really great fighters at the top of the mantle such as Marvelous Hagler and Pernell Whitaker. I don't have a problem with where Manny ranks in the shuffle as his resume definitely can stand with those men.

Someone mentioned Tiger Flowers, great name drop. Anyone who has a win over arguably one of, if not the greatest pound for pound fighter ever in Harry Greb deserves a mention.

I don't even like pacquiao but OP is right. Hagler and Whitaker are great but they didn't do what pacquiao did. Calzaghe greater than pacquiao lmao!!

    Pac achievements dwarf flowers'.
Winning over 100 fights against a hell of a lot of poor fighters doesnt compare with fighting world champ after world champ and jumping thru weight class to weight class doing it.
Pac is easily the best southpaw of all time when all factors are considered

Floyd was better at welter than cotto when pac won

agree with Barrera on the 154 lb title being a joke. but it's hardly his fault

Morales got a pretty bs vacant title vs Cano.

as for the topic at hand on if manny is the greatest southpaw. I'd say his case is very strong.

I believe Manny will at LEAST be regarded as Top 15 of all time in terms of Greatness, as time goes by.
I think the likes of Manny Steward, Paulie Malignaggi etc's comments about Manny being the best fighter in history from the Cotto fight, will be brought to the table again.

They should create a new title that is above GOAT for Manny. Like GOAT X Infinity.

True, but Mayweather had just come off his two year retirement to fight tiny little Marquez. Floyd didn't have a belt. Mayweather would win a WW title after Pac beat Cotto when he fought Shane Mosley. Can't really fault Pacquiao for that one since Cotto at the time was probably the highest regarded Welterweight in the world and held the belt.

I agree. After Pacquiao had beaten Hatton and Cotto you had boxing analysts and boxing historians going "what a minute here, look at what this man has now done in boxing". It sort of died off a little after that because the amazing performances stopped, but in the coming years we will see more and more appreciation of Pacquiao's career as they look at the great run he had in the 2000s.

Pac has always been boggling minds though. I remember when he won the Featherweight title. A lot of boxing people hadn't even heard of him or considered him to be a decent undercard performer. Then boxing analysts are like FFS, this guy is already a 3 time champ in 3 different classes.

*******ism is running amok, not even top 10, hell not even to 15 greatest southpaws.
