    After watching more footage of Manny again today, and revisiting some of his fights, i realised just how much certain posters on here had soured my opinion of this brilliant fighter.

    The guy is an offensive dynamo, and truely a "special" fighter. Very very exciting to watch. The way he puts his combinations together at blinding speed is incredible as it is unorthadox. Its what makes him so hard to defend against. I have never seen a fighter who can throw punches at that rate, with such accuracy whilst coming forward, even squaring himself up mid combination at times. The range he finds on that straight left is absolutely incredible, and he defies traditional boxing technique by the commitment he puts to the punch, and the position of his back leg when throwing it. It is IMPOSSIBLE to avoid by merely stepping back from the punch. When on the offensive, Manny is a fighter who is that overwhelming you simply cannot afford to defend against.

    Yet he can be beaten, but only by a great fighter, with an incredible gameplan. Here are the essentials:

    * Lateral movement.

    * Don't back up NO MATTER WHAT

    * HEAD MOVEMENT

    * Establish the Jab

    * Back Pac UP.

    * Don't hold a high guard with your hands to the side, or it WILL get split

    * Timing

    IMO Juan Manuel Marquez can potentially do all of these things. He also has the hand speed necessary to compete with a fighter like Pac.

    Pac simply doesn't fight backing up well. His defence is extremely leaky, yet he makes up for it with his offensive brilliance. He is far to quick to try and back away from. For JMM to win, he needs to stand his ground, time the Pac rushes, and dictate the fight with his jab.... Keeping control of the pace, and keeping a punch in Pacs face to stop him from unleashing quick combinations. Most importantly, counter Pacs rushes with ones of his own. The downside to Pacs offensive brilliance, is that he puts himself in an extremely poor position to defend after throwing. This is when he is certainly most vunerable.

    This fight is between two of the BEST p4p fighters in the sport. JMM a superbly well rounded technician. And Pac, one of the best offensive fighters i have ever seen. The stylistic match up is a great one for the fans, and I have no doubt it will be an incredible fight.

    Personally, I am picking JMM to do the things i mentioned above, and take the victory. However, this is a dead set pick em fight at this point. I can't wait to see it, this has definite FOTY potenital. Fights between guys of this calibre does not happen often.

    How excited are people here for this fight?

    How do you see it playing out, and who have you got picked?

    What flaws do you guys see in JMM's gameplan that could potentially be exposed by Pac??

    damn excited!

    i see Pac trying to be cautious in the first round unlike before, but round 2 will be different, once he recognizes his physical advantages (since he'll be coming in arnd 144lbs) he will try to finish it right away. Ofcourse JMM will be ready with his counterpunches! but this time, that wont be enough. There will be no flaw in JMM's gameplan. He's a strict fighter, its just that Pac will be too much for him now. Nothing to expose about JMM. He will clean the division after Pac moves up.

    Fair enough. I agree with you in the sense that if JMM loses it will be more so because of Pacs brilliance then him having holes exposed in his game. Pac's offense is so hard to stop, thats what makes him such a great fighter to watch. Much like Prime Tyson, you know EXACTLY what they are going to do, but it is still almost impossible to stop.

    I'm glad you've changed your mind about Manny.

    What were the Pac fights you've recently re-viewed?

    I have a very strong gut feel he's gonna win this next fight. I'm always nervous and anxious as a Pac fight nears, but this time I only feel excited. No fear at all.

    The only time I felt that he wasnt gonna be in real danger was before his fights against Solis & 3K battery.

    Reports from the Wildcard gym say he's in tremendous shape and he's hungrier than ever. He really wants to settle unfinished business.

    Pac's 2008 version looks bigger and stronger than the 2004 version. And he really has a solid right hand counter hook now.

    I dont know if it's gonna be by decision or by TKO/KO. I just really have a strong gut feel that Pac's gonna win this time.

    Exteremly excited i see playing out like a see-saw battle sort of like Pac-Morales 1 but i think pac will probably have the early rounds in the bank cuz hes a fast starter and juan is not,but i wouldnt be surpised if Juan finds is grove back in 4,5 or 6 but i think then Marquez will show his age and Pac's constant pressure will eventually pay off,he will probably knock him out or win every round to the last.To be honest i dont see any flaws in Juan's the gameplan better hope he comitts to it.

    yeah, problem is, Pac is getting too big in this division..i guess it has something to do with his lifestyle, But im a little skeptic about his going to the upperweights. I hope he goes and convince me some more.;)

    I never didn't like him as a fighter, i just thought he was very one dimensional, especially after hearing some of the nut hugging on here, it obviously clouded my judgement to a degree. I always thought he was a top fighter however.

    I watched his fights with Barerra, Marquez and Morales fights all over again. He is a very special fighter, and i really enjoyed watching them again.

    Be interesting to see if age starts to take its tole on JMM, and the weight as well. A small advantage either way here could be the difference in winning and losing.

    One of my favorite Pac fights pre-Barrera was his fights against Ledwaba and against Julio. It's on Youtube if you wanna watch it.

    Tell ME About it-----Lehlo Ledwaba comes from my side of the world----I sat there stunned as MANNY took him apart in 6 rounds---Manny got the fight as a replacement for a withdrawn Agapito Sanchez-------**** man an offensive buzzsaw-----I still believe that Manny had his foot off the gas in Barrera 2 for whatever reason and now Jmm is going to have to pay for Barreras letoff.:smoke :smoke

    good job re-evaluating pac's greatness, don't let a few fanatics sour your judgement on a special fighter.

    how do you see pac - hamed going?

    africandawg:

    Sorry for your guy, man. Lehlo was good but I dont think he's even seen one Paquiao fight on tape before facing him. Pac was never scouted. He was surprised.

    I watched that fight live on TV, and I was so proud of him that day, I nearly cried.

    Wussy, I know.

    YEAH BULA------only Freddy Roach new what he was going to let loose in America--------------you see man I tape all the fights that we get to see so my shelves have many Manny-Morales-Barreras-Hamed- tyson-Vargas etc.. I only keep good fights from 1999 when I started------fights like Hopkins-De la Hoya-Floyd-----boring stuff I give to others...
    Manny vs Hamed-----Imagine all the Flying carpet **** and the tension & exspectations---electric my man-----Hamed thrived on come forward fighters and dirty wrestling tactics[remember Caesar Soto] getting thrown to the canvas but I hesitate to give a winner knowing Hameds "chin & punching power'':smoke :smoke
