other things count..such as titles in 7 weightclasses. Smallest p4p1 boxer in history. Personality believe it or not counts. If he beats Hatton and Floyd who are both in their primes and the best in their weightclass (140 and 147) added that to PAcs resume...not many in the top 20 can match that accomplishment

If he beats any 2 out of PBF, JMM, and Hatton, Top 10 (probably right on 10 battling it out with Whitaker, which is where I have Pea)

He's already Top 15-20 in my book (5 world titles at 112, 122, 126, 130, and 135 with a win over a Top 100 fighter in DLH at 147, wins in 8 weight classes overall)

Who else can claim that? Even Henry Armstrong didn't come from JUNIOR FLYWEIGHT, win a title at FLYWEIGHT, then contend at JR. WELTERWEIGHT or WELTERWEIGHT. While Armstrong is undoubtedly a Top 3 fighter, give the Pac-Man his credit. You haven't seen a fighter capable of jumping weight classes like this since Duran, Roy Jones, and arguably Toney, and even Toney hasn't been this dominant in moving up.

People severely underestimate Pacquiaos resume IMO.

Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera are 2 of the greatest fighters of the past 20 years. NOBODY has badly beaten them up...NOBODY has KO'd them.....But Pacquiao did.

Oscar De La Hoya has NEVER been beaten up the way he was beaten up by Pacquiao...

DLH, Barrera, and Morales. All HOFers. All amongst the greatest fighters of the past 15 years. All recieved the biggest beatings of their careers by Manny Pacquiao.

Please...Do me a favor and look how many top ATGs accomplished that sort of feat. Not 2 many.

Erik Morales was 29 in their 2nd fight.

Marco Antonio Barrera was 29 in their first fight.

    Why?

He'd have the following on his resume:

    Erik Morales
    Marco Antonio Barrera
    Oscar De La Hoya
    Ricky Hatton
    Floyd Mayweather

NOBODY HAS COME CLOSE to amassing decisive wins over that many boxers....If Manny were to do that, it would be unparalleled.

Good post and if you go to the second level of analysis.. These same guys that are supposedly shot came back and proved competitive against good fighters.. Mab vs. JMM/Juarez/Fana..Erik some felt beat D. Diaz..

The point is PAc was able to do things that arent typically done against these guys..

Hed be bordering top 20 with Hatton alone... do a reverse analysis and put the resumes of those ahead of him and see if its better. Losses dont count either

I might have phrased that wrong. What I meant was that if you have a hell of a fighter, but he is unlucky, and happens to fight in a crap/weak division, his skills may not ever fully get recognized for how great he is, as he can never really prove it, as other fighters may have been able to, by fighting good opposition, which there happened to be an abundance of.

Not saying either of the Klitschkos are ATGs, but lets say they have the tools, but no opponents to beat, to really seal their place in the ATG rankings.

I guess it was kind of off topic and irrelevant in this particular situation, but just something that came to mind.

It's a great story for boxing and I'm sure we'll see a MP movie one day about his life. When MT was with Rooney and D'Amato we saw something truly special.....unfortunate how Don killed what could have been with Mike.

If he beats Hatton at 140, captures the lineal championship then beats PBF clearly then he is top 20, maybe top 15 all time. No way top 5 yet though.

If he beats all three of those guys he would make my top 40, no doubt.

Top 3? Needs a lot more years or some genuine, primed greats on his ledger.

its too soon to start talking like this- lets wait til he s retired. things change over time. look at roy- during his reign he was top 10- near the end- he dropped to top 50- now he s done- in a few years- perspective will bring him to around top 20 i feel.

manny is doing things that nobody has ever done before- in a way that people havent seen before. to annhialate dlh in a way the great hopkins and floyd couldnt is amazing.
