JMM- great technical skill, better big fight experience than last time, good timing and spacing, solid chin, good stamina

Pacquiao- high/speed to power ratio, a better right hand than before, great chin, high workrate, great stamina

JMM- same as last time with some distinct differences. Still counter punching, as it would be silly to get into a firefight with Pacquiao. However, in the process, a bit more body punching hoping to wear Pacquiao out a bit and take some steam off those punches for the later rounds. He may also try to lead a bit more to get Pacquiao on his back foot, still a huge weakness for Pacquiao. I think JMM will be a little more aggressive with his combos later in the fight and hope to win in the end with better accuracy and scoring well late. Weathering the storm will be his main concern upfront.

Pacquiao- Come out and hit JMM. Let him know he still is the alpha dog in the power department and that he has improved his boxing skills enough to not be countered so easily. He will hope that this will cause JMM to be defensive (more so than last time out) and allow Pacquiao to work with his pressure and volume power punching to eventually end the fight. He doesn't want JMM feeling comfortable countering him. I also think he will try to work his right hand early with some hooks to let JMM know he has it, unlike last time (it's still only average, much like DLH's, but can do damage)

JMM- JMM can only win one way. Box and move. He should try and get Pacquiao antsy, making him retreat when JMM is leading, and make Pacquiao wary of leading because of counters. Try to slow him down with body shots early on, so that he can lead more often later on with good combos

Pacquiao- Power through JMM. No retreat, no boxing, no chess match. He should show early on that he has improved his technical skills a bit, but not by boxing. He should show JMM that he has improved his ring generalship and punch selection but be aggressive in doing so. Push the pace and the fight, and hit him early and often so JMM becomes afraid of countering. Then pour it on late for a stoppage. He doesn't want this to go to the cards.

JMM will come in looking to lead a bit and be an aggressive counter puncher. Pacquiao will come out pressuring him with power right off the bat. Of the aforementioned gameplans, I feel Pacquiao is more apt to pull his off. These 2 are NOT the same fighters who met at 126. JMM looks to have slowed in the reflex department. Pacquiao isn't as fast or as strong as he was at 126. However I think he is still more of what he was than JMM is. Neither is old, but I don't feel either is prime.

Either way, Pacquiao will pressure early and when JMM counters, Pacquiao will keep coming forward, his improved footwork and head movement will allow him to get to JMM more frequently than last time without getting hit as much, or going backwards when he is hit. JMM will try to stay aggressive in his countering, but become wary later on causing him to shell up enough to entice Pacquiao to try and stop him (he wants to stop him), at which point, Pacquiao will wear him down and out.

I'm going against the grain here and I'll predict that Marquez nicks this one on points.

PAcman will lose and fade into oblivion, as Tyson says.

I respect your analysis kg.....but think about what you just said here....do you really think that Pac is going to power through JMM without retreating?
....even in Pac's last fight with MAB, Emmanuel steward had pointed out that whenever MAB attacked, Pac would retreat.
When JMM lands the counter, you will see, Pac will wait for JMM's punching to subside, and he will retreat in the process. There has'nt been anything in Pac's recent fights to suggest to me otherwise.

The biggest disagreement that I have with your analysis is that you believe Pac has the better stamina. You classify Pac's as great, and JMM's as only good!

JMM is older true....but there is nothing in his recent fights to suggest that his stamina is diminishing.
Marquez fights with a solid workrate fight in and fight out......

I say that JMM has the better stamina, not only because he will have had a longer training camp.....but because thats what I saw when they met the first time.
JMM without a doubt was the fighter with more energy down the stretch against Pac......and whats icing on the cake in my assesment is tha its unbelievable that he would be the fresher of the two heading down the stretch because he was fighting with a broken nose from the very first round that bled throughout the fight.

The stamina edge imo goes definitely to JMM, and if anyone is going to wear down late, it will be Pac.

I do hope Pac uses his right hand more in this fight, I am expecting JMM to counter that shot with shots to the body.......more body shots by JMM in this fight will mean that Pac will likely feel the effects down the stretch.

The punch selection that JMM employs fight in and fight out is just too good, the more Pac uses his right hand and varies it, the more variance and punch selection JMM has at his disposal.

JMM is just too good when it comes to fighting two fisted kg, when its fight night and these two are going at it......Pac will initially try to vary his attack and use both hands, but when JMM is just having his way with disecting Pac with thudding shots, he will revert to loading up with his left.

Mark these words friends....shove them back at my face if I'm wrong......
Pac will not be capable of being aggressive while coming foward throwing both hands. JMM will send him back in retreat with POWER counters to both head and body. Marquez' balance is just so much better and his footwork to mauever for the counter are just eons above the level that Pac is at.

JMM will counter Pac so hard that Pac will have no choice but to fight exactly the same way that he fought JMM the first time.

If Pac insists on using the right hand more, which I highly doubt.....JMM by KO/tko in about 10 rounds.

Pac fighting the same way he fought the first time.......JMM by clear and decisive UD!

An early rounds blitz is Pac's best chance....just come out and go for broke for three rounds.....

A later rounds KO for Pac is possible, but unlikely. Imo Pac would have to get lucky with a shot that hurts JMM and ends the fight suddenly when Marquez was clearly outboxing him.
.....but I dont see where Pac would wear down JMM through accumalation and stop him!

Fair enough. Lets see how it plays out.

I said Pacquaio had great stamina not because I felt JMM showed signs of getting tired, but because hit output is generally lower than Pacquiao's, who shows no signs of getting tired in fights. Neither really does, but I go with the high output guys when comparing.

I also feel that Pacquiao DOES backup when hit hard enough. MAB however hits harder in my estimation than JMM. Plus, Pacquiao has learned to move his head a bit more.

Go back and look at fight one with JMM....Pac is moving his head just for the sake of moving his head......when JMM moves his head its subtle and for a purpose.
Just like Tyson, the headmovement will be there and then gone once the counters start to bounce off his nogin.

What does a fighter so when he's moving his head and shots are still bouncing of his head? Of course.....the headmovement diminishes, the thinking being why bother waisting the energy of moving my head when I'm getting clocked anyways.
The same will happen to Pacquiao!

    :bbb

Let me ask you this kg....when JMM and MAB fought.....I saw clearly that JMM was the stronger of the two and the harder hitting of the two.
When both threw shots simultaneously, it was MAB who retreated!

I also think back to the Rocky Juarez fight for both Marquez and MAB....
Rocky was sending MAB back reeling in fight one, when both were on the inside exchanging.
.....I know JMM boxed Juarez masterfully, but he also stood in the pocket againt Rocky and exchanged on quite a few occasion.
I did'nt see Juarez getting the better of it....in fact, JMM looked and was stronger than Rocky on the inside throwing power!

Explain to me what makes you think MAB is the harder punching of the two?
