Manny Pacquiao versus Salvador Sanchez.....

On a micro level you may think he won and that's fine, but the Pacquiao was officially awarded with a draw and two wins in the first three fights. He really won the first one because the judge made a scoring error. They were close fights you can't call robbery.

And the 4th fight being at 147 tells us nothing about what a possible 126 matchup with Sanchez might look like.

 

Manny has the pure speed and power edge but thats it. Chava has all of the other advantages as well as a chin made of granite. Sal was better than JMM at everything and we know Marquez troubled Pac everytime they fought. Chava was also a level above MAB and EM who gave Manny hell as well. Chava-a tall featherweight-struggled against taller slick guys which Manny is not. Manny presses and Sal responds accordingly. Convincing win for Chava.

 

I make my assessments based on what I saw, not what the judges ruled. :nod

 

Manny had stupid agility back in the featherweight days. Remember in the 3rd round against Barrera when Pac knocked him down? He jumped like 3 feet across the ring and threw a hard 1-2 in like a half second.

Sanchez never fought anybody who could do something like that.

Stamina is basically a wash too. Both of these guys were like ungassable.

 

No question Manny was great at 126 but he never fought anyone as good as Chava. Nobody. When he lands that straight left down the pike and the look on Sals face doesnt even change, gotta wonder how he responds. As I wrote before, Sals better than Marquez at everything. Plus theres no way hes going down 3 times.

 

Marquez is the better technician I think.

Is it possible to take a hard Pacquiao left at 126 and not be affected?

Morales took the left pretty well at 130, but even he was hurt in the first round bad.

The only guy who ever stood up to the power (still got hurt) at 130 and below was a guy with one of the most alien chins we've ever seen.

 

Chava had an alien chin. He fought the Professor, Wilfredo Gomez and Little Red(arguably the hardest puncher ever at 126), and when each one hit him, the look on his face barely changed. I have never seen anything like that.

No doubt he had a great chin. When Manny's left can seriously hurt Morales before he was washed up then it may hurt anybody though.

We'll never know for sure if Salvador could take a flush left. But if the first Morales fight is any indication than it may be a tougher task than first thought.

 

I remember Pacquiao losing to a shot Morales. I also remember Pacquiao KDE JMM 3 times in the first round and then losing just about every round after that.

And I'm supposed to believe he beats the Legend at age 23 who was levels above JMM and Morales just because Pacquiao bounced more back then? No.

 

Erik Morales didn't look too shot in the first fight man. We saw what happened when Manny fought a declined Morales in the 2nd fight and a totally shot Morales in the 3rd fight.

You can go on and on all you want about Marquez too, but he never beat a prime Pacquiao.

And I don't know if Sanchez is levels above Morales. You see to me Morales from 2004-2005 was an incredible fighter. He had everything, no weakness, nothing to critique.

 

EM was great but his chin was not even close to Chavas
