Thing is, if I was Arum, this is exactly how I would manage him. Keep him at 135lbs where he doesn't struggle to make weight, have him fight guys coming up from 130lbs, take the guys he matches up well with stylisticaly, and keep him the hell away from the 135lb'ers that present stylistic difficulty.

Lucero? I mean their names both end with an "o", I'll concede that.

I don't see Valero pulling off the upset, but writing him off as a complete walkover is humorous. He'd probably be the best pure athlete Manny has faced, especially factoring age into the equation, since the Mexican triumvirate was long in the tooth once Manny got ahold of them.

Of course there are more meaninful fight he could take at 135, but those will still be there come '09.

Pacman will retire Valero if this fight comes off.

Just take into account that the top LWs ALL have fights in September, and Manny's set to fight in November. That's only 2 months difference. So it can't be helped. Manny has no other choice but to fight Valero and wait until 2009 to fight any of the top LWs.

I just hope the people here won't whine again about Pac not fighting the best fighters out there, just like what they're doing in his fight against Diaz. Consider the circumstances first.

    :good  :good

If Valero wants to extent his zero loss I guess he should avoid fighting pac....but of course Valero would get his biggest pay check of his career (why would Velero not take the chance correct?! He would probably say to himself, the hell with zero loss if I can get the biggest pay check of my career:D )

For purely entertaining fight. I like this fight to happen.. For legacy purposes pac should fight somebody more credible...winner of casa vs jmm or campbell, juan baby bull diaz probably...

    Exactly.

Valero's comp hasn't been the best admitedly, but the one name he did beat was Mosquera, and that guy was a handy wee operator, and Valero beat the resistance out of him in his own back yard.

Pac has to be favoured, but don't count out Valero. Well-schooled slick boxer types would probably be a nightmare for Valero, but Pac doesn't fit that particular stereotype.

i rather see pac vs katzidis, marquez or diaz. All three would be just as action packed as the valero fight, but those will be competetive

Fun fight to watch, valero gets KO'ed early on and destroys his career.

agree... as styles make fights, this one will definitely end up with a vicious knockout. And pacquiao will expose valero to the hilt, since valero's style is perfect fit for manny's..

yeah that why i worry for most part about the guzman fans here. if he wins over campbell and pac will fight valero in november. they would certainly be whining and bitching again about pac ducking their boy. but since the winner of any of the other lightweight matches would have little time to prepare then valero sounds like a logical choice. pac should unifly early next year if a hatton fight didn't materialize.

Fair points, Sting. I'm not complaining about this one, its actually something that is exciting and probably had to happen one day.

Still, I will be interested to see how Arum moves him.

Valero gets KOed within 4. It would be exciting while it lasts, but Valero is just way too easy to counter. Valero is like a miniature version of Juan Urango.

I think that this could be an exciting action packed fight for 4 or 5 rounds with Pacquiao winning.
