    Vazquez vs. Arce

    Round 1

Vazquez circles left and sharp-shoots, throwing a long 1-2 as Arce comes at him face-first lunging with both hands. Arce is hooking with his left, trying to trap Vazquez on the ropes. Vazquez dances around to his right now, and bounces off the ropes before leaping off to the left. Arce does get him against the ropes and digs a couple of hooks to the body in from both sides. Vazquez is keeping his distance, and takes a hard right hand on the cup unseen by Joe Cortez. Arce lands a good 1-2. Arce is pressuring and throwing hard. Vazquez is again caught on the ropes and hit with hard hooking lefts and rights. Vazquez keeps his gloves up and works his way off the ropes and into Arce to smother him.

    10-9 Arce

    Round 2

Arce comes slugging forward and gets caught with a 1-2. Vazquez is stepping in to meet Arce and landing good right hands, while still taking the lateral strides to not stay a fixed target. Vazquez is putting his left arm out to knock aside Arce's punches and trying to push his right hand through behind it with Arce blinded. Arce grabs Vazquez around the middle and literally carries him to the ropes like a baby (which, given their comparative age...). Vazquez steps off to the side and lands a stiff jab. Now a big left hook by Arce! The older man swarms in and lets both hands fly. Vazquez shook off the bombs well and has gotten back to landing his 1-2 on the outside. Arce with a good right hand while jumping in.

    19-19

    Round 3

Arce is working both arms to the body as heavy pendulums. Vazquez seems out of sorts, backing up and still countering but getting pushed around and hit a lot. Arce throws a hard 1-2 and just keeps throwing, hooking, putting a long combo together while leaning forward with his feet just trailing behind. Arce's nose might be bloodied. Arce loads up but waits for Cortez to break a clinch, and the round ends.

    29-28 Arce

Very true. Pavlik's prime is long gone. We'll never see the old Pavlik again.

    Round 4

Vazquez backs up as Arce keeps the hits coming. Arce is aiming low as Vazquez pitches forward with a bent waist to try and catch Arce coming in and hold him. Vazquez is landing the cleaner shots but Arce is just throwing loads more and is bullying Vazquez badly. Arce pushes him down to the canvas by the head. Vazquez digs a right uppercut to the body and Arce keeps tossing himself at Vazquez, leaning in. Arce is throwing a ton of leather, and catches Vazquez big with a right hand. Good finish by Arce. WHOA!!! Vazquez knocks him down with a left hook!!!!

10-8 Vazquez, and he was about to lose that round.

    Round 5

They meet again in the middle of the ring and push together, with Arce imposing his strength again to drive Vazquez down to the canvas. Arce stays leaning in close firing uppercuts while Vazquez obliges him with a prolonged infight, throwing hooks to the body instead of trying to step out to his more effective range. Arce is showing no ill effects from the KD. Vazquez circles quickly to the right. Arce hooks with his left and slams forward with hard rights, getting slipped. Vazquez lands another solid hook. Vazquez starts to duck as Arce drops a 1-2 against his shoulder. Vazquez lands a good right hand. Arce throws wild shots to the body and brings them up. Vazquez isn't hit clean with any of it.

10-9 Vazquez but close. Good comeback by Arce after getting decked.

Won't be surprised to see Arce get stopped the way this is going. Vazquez Jr. is showing some serious ability in there.

    Round 6

Arce hooks hard at the Puerto Rican, getting in close. Vazquez isn't getting away from him very effectively, with his legs mostly stationary or moving slowly. Arce is throwing leather as he rushes in, sometimse just leaning forward with his feet planted and nearly toppling over as he pumps his fists into Vazquez's face. Vazquez is blocking a lot of these shots but isn't moving away as much anymore. Many of Arce's blows are getting through, and might just be outnumbering the counters he's getting hit with.

    10-9 Arce

    Round 7

Arce darts in and out as he jabs to the body and flails away with both hands up close. Arce is clapping his gloves across Vazquez's face at every turn. Vazquez decides enough is enough and pushes Arce back to the ropes and lands several clean power punches. Arce then drags him to the adjacent ropes throwing a much sloppier combo but it effectively shuts Vazquez down. Vazquez looks weary as he tries to push Arce off. Hard uppercut by Vazquez. Unseen low blow by El Travieso. Arce walks right into a left hook that turns his head to the side. Arce comes hooking forward and catches Vazquez, shaking him. Vazquez is breathing out of his mouth and reacting to every Arce head shot now. Vazquez is, however, sneaking in some VERY sharp counters all the while.

    10-9 Vazquez

    Round 8

Rough stuff, with Cortez trying to get it under control. A lot of behind the head hits, and one guy flopping over the back of the other. Arms getting twisted, all sorts of nastiness. Arce pushes Vazquez into the corner. Hard 1-2 by Arce springing in, and he follows up with several hammering hooks. Vazquez keeps his hands low but is moving on the outside now, looking a little more comfortable there. Arce comes slicing wildly and mixing in a few straight jabs. Vazquez just dances away. Arce rocks him with a right/left combo. The bell rings and Cortez jumps in to save Vazquez.

    10-9 Arce

    Round 9

Arce steps in to jab and darts out. Arce is up on his toes actually getting cute. Arce lands a quartet of hooking shots, twisting at the waist. Vazquez is AGAIN pushed down to the canvas. He gets up with his breathing a bit more ragged. Arce is hooking low by the hip and belt line and grabbing Vazquez before he can answer back. Arce jabs and actually slips a Vazquez jab. Arce now circles wide to the right. Arce gets double jabbed in the face and circles away, then darts in to jab the body. Jab to the face by Arce. Lunging overhand right now. Vazquez is just pawing with counters.

    10-9 Arce

arce's gassed. just running and throwing one punch coming in and holding. may get hurt in the next couple rounds.

if arce just kept his right hand up, he would be winning this fight. no question. all the damage has been done with vasquez's left hook as a result of arce dropping that right hand.
